CTF-Faces in paper :)

Post by zwieblum » Wed Jan 06, 2021 11:57 am

I have created a CTF-faces paper model. Pictures of the creation process https://www.kartonbau.de/forum/thema/42 ... ctf-faces/ and of the final model https://www.kartonbau.de/forum/thema/42 ... ctf-faces/

That's very cool. It would look nice as a Warhammer scenery piece too. I love it!
You must construct additional pylons.

This looks awesome! It seems like you used the automatic UV unpacking feature of modelling programs cleverly and cut paper on those shapes, which is really clever. I can't tell if that really is the case, though; I don't know German ;-;

I'm sure Paper¹ can tell me about it, though. Or maybe I'm mixing someones up...?

¹ btw, this model is awesome, it just needs one more thing: more coffee!

Very cool! Especially with the lights and background :D
It's unfolded with Pepakura like my papercrafts.

I'm glad you like the model :)

What size should it have for warhammer? The current model is a bit on the small side (134mm height), I think it'll need to be scaled up to at least 300mm height, better 500mm.

I tried to get a decent toolchain working from UnrealEditor to Blender, but failed miserably. In the end I found a years old STL Model of the map (the creater told me, that his toolchain stopped working ~ 5 years ago) - that model was not editable and not fixable by any mesh tool I tried, but I could display it in OpenSCAD. So I rebuilt the model, unfolded it in Pepakura (what a splendid piece of software!), exported it to PNG, placed the textures with gimp and was surprised by a pink tower ... never trust your printer :)

Now that I have model (and part of the ground model), what size(es) would you like to have it? Length of the model is ~ 3 times it's height.

If that helps work out the scale, a normal human in Warhammer is about 28mm high (plus 2,5mm for the base).
The small inner lights are really cool. :D

aehm ... this would result in a model of ~ 1.4m height ... might be a bit on the big side, don't you think?

Keine Angst du hast Recht.

And it didn't need more coffee ...it's already fine brown like a milk-coffee Image

Pretty cool man.

Now the real trick is to embed some BSP holes. :P
