You have to type: 58

Basically, what it is asking is: from that text ("Z=58+R-Q-E"), type the only number there.
The hint is the phonetic, as "fiddy-ate" sounds eerily similar to "fifty-eight".

Why not? As far as I remember, we already talked about our own security questions out in the open, and no harm has been done.
They shouldn't have just a single question with always the same answer anyway, so perhaps the OP should take the chance to talk to the admin over there so it can be improved, specially when it's harder for humans than for bots, when it should be the opposite.
If they randomized the question with different numbers and letters, it would probably actually earn the name of "security question", because right now is just a 5 seconds hindrance for a real bot or bot maker.

I'm pretty sure we can all safely agree that the OP of this thread is not a spambot.

Well ... if you see it like that.

They can pass that question as easily in their website directly, if not more easily.

You are right... but... anyway.

What do you think about this Captcha system is this more secure?

Shortly after this thread was started, the Unreal Wiki was flooded by spam bots. Within 24 hours 62 of them dumped 170 articles full of crap.
But then again, the very simple gateway question I had in place (abbreviation of the last UT game) kept them out for months. Hopefully the new question will be just as effective.

Some spambots are being able to read some type in letters and number by some kind of reading and comparing words detection. Now, that's freaky.

AFAIK the more advanced spambots actually relay the CAPTCHA to real humans who will have to solve it for some other purpose. (Probably for access to porn websites. Some people can be expected to do all kinds of dumb things for porn.)

Yeah, that's why a captcha solution is always bound to fail, no matter how hard they make it to bots, humans are the real problem (that's probably why Google's captcha system became also hard for humans).
The question-answer way is a lot more effective, specially when they focus in a theme that most people are not aware of and only the ones wanting to really register know (in this case UT itself), since if they're also too generic, the same problem applies (the question can be relayed too).
