Buying UT via Steam

Post by Shade »

I would like to have a fresh and clean version of UT on Steam, but I got the following message on :
Oops, sorry!
This item is currently unavailable in your region
I've read somewhere it might be possible to buy a game on Steam as a gift and send it over to a person, in whose country the game isn't allowed.
Does anoyone here made experience with that? Is it really possible to do that?

Not a solution for your issue, but if you want to buy it digitally then why not get it from GOG instead?

Plus it should be DRM free :)

There have been a few discussions on the topic here over the last year actually.
Probably everytime someone posts about a steam bundle-deal.

I think it is better to have Steam manage it as a custom game rather than install it via steam.

Thanks Raynor! Good alternative, but yes, no solution to my issue. I would like to have it connected to steam. :)

Hmm. To just play UT, I don't need Steam at all. But I additionally wanted a version that is connected to Steam (I know, that sounds odd ^^). So your solution would be no option for me. Thanks anyway. :)

Not even for the almighty Admin are double posts allowed!!

I know that you can implement UT into steam without installing it over steam. just get the GOG version and add it into the steam library ...UT will now be able to be launched in steam.

I believe it is no different to me getting "raptr" to watch, manage and launch UT, even though it is not officially supported.
