And that's good ...I love UT99.
But I'm also interested what UT4 becomes when it's finished or better said, when it's more polished and ready for public use.
Right now I can't run this prototype (not optimized for older hardware) on my new old machine (and I haven't tested Higors stuff because even UT99 isn't running well with that graphic card (and I forgot to install it every time))
I can't predict what becomes of UT4 because comparing a pre-Alpha stage with a finished and well known full game is like comparing an appleseed with a full grown orangetree.

Modding is allowed or the Chaos project could not make CUT4 which will be offered as a regular old fashioned mod download.
The biggest problems are caused by the constantly shifting framework, and so at Chaos we stick on a build until we have completed our internal releases.
UT4 does not have a complete UT inside it, so we are writing lots of stuff they may make later, or not.
They say double-jump does not fit, we made it into a pair of boots so you can make your own choice.
They have no vehicle code, so we are writing that.
They have a bland and basic blood and gore system, we are replacing that.
We have had to write the physics that we need, and even create the code for things like cables so we can have the grappling hook.
We have also had to write custom bot code for the Proxy mines and the new Gemini Relic

Previously Chaos was developed on a finished product, but currently has to spend half the time making the engine.
UT4 is born from the UDK which is where Epic started this model of continual engine upgrading and tweaking.
This is a lot more work than it should be, but then we also have a small team.

Yep, stuff which might being made later makes you to remove your previous add-ons... not very nice. Else development of old UT99 it's still in progress... see new launcher by Higor aiming CPU speed problems... heh, UT4, maybe I'll wait UT5...

No they did not but ,they made a laser sword just like luke skywalker did had for ut99.
Many years ago i did run a server with that laser sword.
He must be somwhere in the archives of the ut files.

Yeah, the lightsaber mutator. I've had that thing for years, it's fun... but 1 single weapon doesn't equal a weaponpack.

Yeah, I've got several. They're great, one mapper in particular (blanking on the name now) made some truly high detailed ones, and 1 Star Trek Starfleet ship (you can get inside of) which is a blast too.

Collection of UT4 & UT3 maps on a mostly defunct forum with good stuff · http://unrealoldfriends.activeboard.com ... porksword/

Download links may need updating, but it's still impressive to see.

It's great to find a guy who reviews UT4 with a sense of humor... even when redgarding things about it that're not so fun or funny:

Ugh...killed it at the 4 second mark...as soon as the over-volumed shrieking started.

The poster probably has some good points but what YouTubers need to understand is that nothing will replace the written word. Humans read faster than anyone can talk and can parse blocks of text very quickly. These video rants can easily become paragraphs without all of the meme-y junk.

But then people just want to hear their own voices and what's a book without pictures, right?
