Anybody familiar with the MHA server?

Post by EvilGrins »

Cuz they're gone now · http://www.online-multigaming.com/e107_ ... 0#post_434

I'd never heard of them, got the word from Killerbee's forum.

Yes, MHA has been around for years.
Some of their group were also members of the old HUTP forum.
Yes, both odd and sad to see them go. :|

I remember playing MH there, and they had some spammy over the top maps over there.
If I remember correctly, they made most of the MH nuke maps (maps filled with stupidly strong monsters filled with redeemers everywhere, and they had a NW3 server on top of it, so you can imagine the mayhem... I enjoyed it for the most part tbh).

Yeah, It's sad to see a server with lower frame-rate only for players with no skill, going down and getting lost, veery sad... :?

Sorry, I could not resist... Keep going...

Some enjoyed, others didn't.
Personally, I am the kind of guy who likes almost every gametype and I play rather diversely: at one moment I may be playing in a server where a ton of skill is required and is intense, on another I might just want to relax and just blow monsters up and just cause mayhem for an entire hour.

So yeah, it's rather sad seeing one of the servers which provided the latter to vanish, just like it would be for the former.

Point 1) I'm relaxed when I'm playing UT and MH especially even if a MONSTER is blowing me up - What's the problem here ? The challenge is fun and relaxing.

Point 2) Last time I was busy to develop(/FIX so to speak) a map which will consume less network channels than expected and than was consuming before, exactly for smoothing net game as much as possible (will debate that in the right moment). I do not need objects "not replicated", I'm using actors "not replicated". Server will use less actors than players, this way of doing was nowhere before, "spammy" stuff as mentioned here is not on my "let's see it" list. I used "overkill" years ago and I know consequences, there is nothing entertaining to crash client or server with any dumb way of doing. A dude asked if can get over default 1024 net channels. Why ? Why we don't do things inside boundaries rather than outside ? A map can be a bad-ass challenge or fun by using max. 512 channels if has a wise setup. In time, maybe we can have a deal with UE1 using a bit of intelligence from 21th century not a fool child's stupidity dreaming green horses on walls, and maybe we can do things better rather than worst. I had MHA tagged maps here, and as an information (helpful or not) I packed them in a 7Zip archive and I moved them away from slowing down maps reading. It's not about spam from these maps, it's about DUMB SETUP which is used, free touchable MonsterEnd, tiny triggers but supposed to be touched as a trap - which you can fail to go trapped, Titans slapping player at 2000 range, dumbness in those maps was over all limits and the logic in toilette. But someone there told that their players are "happy at home". Well, happiness it's gone then ? DU is still active ? Yeah ? Because that's MonsterHunt... the rest are false feelings about fun.
Point 3) Some time ago a dude told me that 3 communities owns MH. Nope, VERY FALSE, it's only one: DestinationUnreal even if you like it or not, that server has players almost all the time, the rest is random blabbering...
Point 4) Purpose of my answers here is not for being rude from any kind but telling what I'm thinking and I assure you that I'm not the only one with these feelings.

clans and singel players will come and go.Just like the clan i was in }bee{ clan, they grown up and begining a real live with kids and a whole family.
Always sad and hard to say goodbey to say too that players, some of them where in a clan while singel players moved to the real live also.
Mayby you can find something back in the wayback machine.mayby they made some mods or maps, some of them where very active on the forums or where playing online during a period of time.
I feel personaly Always sad when a player desided to quit for whatever reason.
