The AWESOME Mapping Contest - PARTICIPANTS VOTE!!

Post by papercoffee »

Here in this thread all participants who finished a map in time can vote now to declare the winner of the contest.

Download the Maps from here viewtopic.php?p=107791&f=1#p107791

-How does it work?
All Participants vote for three maps they liked the most. Except for their own map of course  .
They have 6 points to distribute which are split into
  • 3 Points for the Best map.
2 Points for the map they liked.
1 Point for the map they think is OK.
They can write a little review why they think those maps deserve the points. But they don't have to.

-The Judges
We have two judges ...editor Dave and UBerserker.
Those two vote here as well and have 10 points to distribute.
  • 4 Points for the absolute best map.
3 Points for the great map.
2 Points for the map they liked.
1 Point for the map they think is OK.
They will write reviews about those four maps and maybe even about the others.

Okay so just to be clear, BRUT counts as a vote as well, correct?
So if you vote for BRUT you only vote for two maps (not three).
Just making sure...

No, Jack/Kelly made it clear it was never meant to be a map therefore can't it be part of the voting.
BUT if you like to review his awesome mod, then please do it. He put a lot of work into this project.

btw. It's running under "bonus content"

I think he did... but after the final release he changed his server back to a coop style... but maybe I got it wrong.

Spoiler
1) DM-AMC-Gluon
Small and highly detailed map, fast paced gameplay, z-axis. It's all coming together very nicely. Bonus points for all the extra legwork in scripting.

2) CTF-AMC-BigAndUgly
It's an eff'n'bee map. It's huge, although that's both a plus and a minus in this case. It looks classic fnb and where it has it the gameplay is good, lots of height differences, too. Must've been difficult to get the bots do all those things (as evident in the beta thread). Unfortunately, the almost dependency on speed pickups is a big minus because the map is so big it basically takes forever to get the flag and back. Because it is so big, it is missing some of the usual details. But then again, the map would probably have imploded.

3) CTF-AMC-FastandW00tabulous3
I expected DM-AMC-Modular in this place. But after playing both, I just like FastandW00tabulous a little better. It's also fast paced, with similar Z-axis (because you really don't use Modular's gimmick at all), but you don't get lost.
PS: Upvoting your own map is dumb.

Sorry dude, things are on autopilot at the moment. You're talking to a mailman in mid-December :omfg:

If you guys want I can set up the server Sunday with the contest entries? I just won't have time until then.
So long, and thanks for all the fish

Spoiler
1). Swanky - DM-AMC-Ars_Indus Smooth, great design, fast-paced and small which is good for today's low UT99-wide player count.

2). FraGnBraG - CTF-AMC-BigAndUgly Great layout, (despite it being quite easy to get lost at times), HUGE, creative design elements, nice use of pickups, (though somewhat sparse tbh); probably best for SLV or rockets etc.

3). Krull0r - DM-AMC-Modular Funky design/layout, impressive use of warp-zones, sweet visuals.

Honourable mention: Revelation - DM-AMC-Gluon Fun layout and visually impressive, might run ok on modern systems but it lags a little on my 2010 rig.

I still have a few more to play through, but I see potential confusion going on here. Are you guys just numbering most-to-least liked favorites, or are those the point values you're giving?

His posts don't indicate that DM-Hightude was released as an AMC map.
