Re: The AWESOME Mapping Contest

As a judge, I was having similar thoughts concerning the "awesome" theme. While writing my review, first I try to think why the maps could be considered "awesome" and then proceed to write what I think about them in general. The category can be adjusted in a very broad way, so I can find find something "awesome" in everything. While originality can be one factor (as JackGriffin suggested), a high-polished result can be another one.

However, seemingly objective categories like on UnrealSP wouldn't help the situation either. If I were to judge with the formula "visuals, sounds, gameplay, technical execution" in mind, the winners would be obvious. So, I'm probably more going for a subjective route (or in between: what I think is awesome and the map can be viewed in general) which might have the same result, but might also surprise you. See you later. ;)

I'm almost done revising my entry for the map pack. Should the final file name be any different than what was entered into the contest?

Going to release a new version with shifted mover ICHs over the course of the weekend. When will we be allowed to release the map as single files?

On a happy note, I should have a brand new home computer all setup after Saturday.

My fix-it guy, who sadly is leaving town so I'm gonna start to be really careful from now on, says a lot of what I had on the old system is recoverable so cross your fingers for me.

I'll start reviewing these maps as soon as I'm able... WITH SCREENSHOTS!

Sorry ...I'll try to release it in the next days. I had to work over the Holidays. And afterwards was I in too much stress for the same reasons. :|

Can't open the file DM-AMC-Ars_Indus1.2.zip from your dropbox file and get an error message.

MH-AMC-Mesospheric_sk_tw0.7z has only the .unr file? I think there are some other files missing needed to play the map. I have taken them from the first beta.

Perhaps you should have included Terraniux's original version of his MH map as well and/or indicated in the Readme that the included version is an edit of that map by sektor2111 (stating the reasons for this inclusion and the problem with the submitted contest version)?

That's why I asked many times which map is now the final and woking version ...I'll pull back this release now to prevent more damage.
