DM-AMC-Modular (WIP)
Its time to reveal some visuals from my contest entry.
This map has an absolutly clean look and is relativly huge. There are two special things about that map!
The first one is that it has two arenas which are connected with a HUGE Warpzone portal on the ceiling!
The second is not implemented yet and a surprise.
The player will also have the ability to jump thorugh the portal with jumpboots and lift jumps.

Re: DM-AMC-Modular (WIP)
As usual for your work, it looks barely passable and seems boring to play, but you'll get a pass because you're a known member of the community.
No but seriously, I love the screens, it reminds me of a lot of War§ow maps, with this fake cell-shading. The lighting looks just plain enough to be nice and the layout looks intricate, open and vertical. In other words, it looks like the kind of maps I try and fail to make. I'm a bit sorry that you provided screenshots but no link, this makes me want to play.

You must construct additional pylons.

Trust me, you can't fully appreciate this map without playing it. This is as close to Escher as I've seen done in UT. Watching a player run along the 'ceiling' is just crazy weird.
So long, and thanks for all the fish

Nice and different! I like cell-shaded stuff from time to time: A really god one is ShaderX by Derdak2rot (Fusion of time pack)
There is room for lighting in the approach...
Good stuff

I'm going to shamelessly plug Krullor's youtube channel. If you think you are adept at mapmaking and using UEd then I would suggest you watching him livestream as he works on Redux. It took me just a couple of minutes to realize I'll never do what this guy does. It's like getting to watch a painter as they work.

Re: DM-AMC-Modular (WIP)
You see, maps like this, the textures helps a lot for seeing the enemies and is why I don't like UT2004 or UT3 or other games so much for DM. I bet the map plays well because of that, not trying to see with backgrounds that you NEED bright skins etc etc.
That is why I don't give much cred to fantastic looking maps even if they are masterfully done and look beautiful. (thinking Nalicity)

Re: DM-AMC-Modular (WIP)
I've never considered it like this but yeah, you are right. I played a bunch of TF2 and a lot of the busy DM servers use bland, portal-ish textures on the maps they rotate. It does make the game faster and more fun to have consistent theme across the playing field.

It really reminds me of warSow ...but much better and more beautiful.
I'm eager to try this map out.
Mine will be more blunt compared to this beauty.

Oh crap, I have some serious competition to beat if I'm gonna win the AMC! I'm really liking the Tron-esque design and its modular look. Nice work Krull0r!

Re: DM-AMC-Modular (WIP)
It's part of the limitation of the old Unreal Engine. Too many vertices in the view and some polygons start flickering in and out of existence ...what you see happens when you can see into the void around the map.Ubir4 wrote: anyone know how can I correct this problem?
Re: DM-AMC-Modular (WIP)
I was able to correct the error that occurred. I went into building and tuning the BSP properly.papercoffee wrote:It's part of the limitation of the old Unreal Engine. Rename this "fixed" map to prevent mismatches.Ubir4 wrote:I was able to correct the error that occurred. I went into building and tuning the BSP properly.
