Oh neat. I might be able to crank another map after I finish the current one. :)

I think the lighting is OKish, perhaps a little too bright. I like the way you've got three levels into that space, and so provided for some z-axis action, though it does feel a bit too open - perhaps some higher piles of snow/ice in the corridors, etc to provide a bit more cover and break up the spaces a little.

Certainly having slippery surfaces would be both interesting and entertaining - overall it's coming on nicely - look forward to the finished product :gj:
I wouldn't be too sure where to put slippery surfaces at but I know bottom will need one due to long ride for fun but it may also be interesting for going through the whole map and looping the infinity from mid to high! :loool:

Nice idea tho, I'll work on it.

Sneak peak of my new map. Very early in development still. In a few days I will upload a version of the map with the basic layout complete so you guys can run around on it and give me some feedback.

Forgot to ask if you're making a contest or a bonus map?

@swiftshade nice terrain! Looking forward to it ;)

Some nice looking stuff so far :) Thanks for extending

The bioshock map is currently unrunnable and unviewable in 3d - node-counts exceed maximum limit.
have cut it down, or look at alternative maps - i have a number of those ...

Just wondering if the way I added the contest badge is too small or not?

Barely getting there. I keep crashing the editor with vertex edit on terrian brush so I can barely make random pile of snow. :noidea

Do you have by any chance my Mansion of Chaos Map? In the Decorations are patches of snow piles and a snowman and some nice snow particle actors.

I haven't have that one but that'll be interesting!

On a side note, medor suggested me to look at AS-FoT-Chronoshift for more stuff and I found stuff like breakable ice and such but pulling that from MyLevel there to MyLevel on mine er... didn't work... says I'm missing something?
I have more research to do on this weird case...

Ye the snow balls are so cute lol

I'll give it a try later.

EDIT: It's later! It's a standard arena level. I like the ice theme, and wish there were more icy maps around. See spoilers for suggestions and criticisms.
Version-specific comments:
  • DM-20AC-IciclePyramidTest crashes less than a minute into play.
  • DM-IP27 ran fine.
  • DM-IP27Test crashes immediately.
  • DOM-20AC-IciclePyramidTest runs fine. However, since it's a symmetrical map with asymmetrical control point placement, you should add some things to each floor to help indicate which direction the control point is. Also, you should add ammo by each weapon. Team games normally have Weapon Stay enabled, so you can't pick the weapon up again for more ammo.
Suggestions:
  • Level info. Add a suggested player count, and trim down the author line so it fits in the level preview screen. Also add some music, or even a blank.umx, so pausing the game doesn't give us the menu music.
  • Improve texture alignment where you can.
  • Using a wall texture for the ceilings looks odd. If there's no suitable ceiling texture, just use a base texture and then add or subtract some shapes for visual interest.
  • There are too many wide open spaces with little or no cover. For the largest hallways, I recommend adding some thick pillars, alternating between the center and sides, so there is varied cover to weave between. For the center area, see how it looks to add pillars at each of the inside corners of the cross platform. (See pics. Additions are in red)
