Seeking CTF, does this sound familiar?
Back around when ut99 first came out, I had a very basic computer. It was fast enough for my needs, bit only had about a 4G hard drive. So when it got too filled up with stuff, I went through and deleted what I didn't need.
Lost a lot of maps and mutators that way.
I used to love a CTF map that had 2 bases that looked like they were carved into 2 different mountains/cave systems. Between the bases was a mountain range and some open land with a forest too. It was a great, well-pathed map... that I cannot remember the name of.
Anybody ever seen this?

Nope. I have that one.
The bases I'm talking about look like they're carved right into mountains, whereas TwinValley you can see the bases are built onto the surrounding terrain.

Yeah, I thought it might be that but, although the bases are within a cave system, there is no open land nor a forest between them.
I can think of a couple of similar maps (though I can't remember their names) but not of one with a forest and a mountain range.

I remember such a map where the mountain in the middle had multiple tunnels; one of them had a BSP error in form of an invisible obstacle. But I cannot remember the name of the map...
"Multiple exclamation marks," he went on, shaking his head, "are a sure sign of a diseased mind." --Terry Pratchett

Hmmm, I may've mis-remembered the forest...
...but yeah, that is it.

Re: Seeking CTF, does this sound familiar?
hmm CTF-DMUT-LostValley ... you know there's no brushes in that map?
you might be able to do your monster thing as long as you don't try and rebuild geometry or lighting...
i'm not sure whether paths can be re-built without brushes... i think so, but you'd have to try it.
you could slice it up using the builder brush to make smaller geometry bits to stich together/modify
but it might be just easier to make a new one of these maps - it is not hard to do.
Keep in mind this is very early bot40 stuff so the terrain is pretty simplistic and amature in places.
If you do like this type of map, there are several similar maps - Squirrel-In-a-Box has one. Can't remember
the name but i do remember seeing them both on the same server. I think at the time i thought this was a style
of ctf map all mappers were expected to make at least one of
Anyhoo... have fun
ps - (ha just played it
) this is also an example of a map that used multiskyzoneinfo actor.. both bases were night sky, the middle was day !!!
actually there's some collision bugs in the caverns. I'm not a big fan of the base design on this one - very hard to get out with the flag...

My monster thing had nothing to do with finding this map, I've just been trying to find it again for years without a clear recollection of the filename.
I do love a challenge.FraGnBraG wrote: ↑Sun Mar 29, 2020 7:06 pmps - (ha just played it) this is also an example of a map that used multiskyzoneinfo actor.. both bases were night sky, the middle was day !!!
