Nexgen not installing

hiya!

for whatever reason Nexgen doesn't seem to want to work for me. i installed the files and added the lines to my ini, but the command '!open!' remains unrecognized by the game. i'm hoping for some hero out there to relieve me from this dire grievance.

no, i don't see anything nexgen-related in UnrealTournament.log.

Make sure you put all the files from the zip in the right folders (.u .int and .ini all go to /system folder)

I know sounds like basic stuff, but ya never know, you might've put a file somewhere it doesn't belong.

yea i was thinking first i screwed sumtim up along those lines, but i quadruple-checked and all is in its place.
should i have mentioned that i'm running linux? but mods/plugins are os-agnostic, no?

Is your startup ucc command poining to another INI perhaps?
example: -ini=UnrealTournament.ini

not a chance. i've been editing this file for render and sound to make changes. the ini is legit.

My copy returns "acd686fe5ee2cb1f4bf34472b42a30541fea79d1" for SHA-1 - just to rule out the possibility of file transmission error.

Not related to Nexgen but in your INI GameSpy uplink it's USELESS, dude. That thing is no longer active for years...

yeah, i haven't touched that section, that entry apparently comes with the Steam version.

alright, i think i'm making progress (currently on windows only). i didn't realize i need to first launch Dedicated - followed by me joinin the server - for Nexgen to initialize.

thanks for all the suggestions guys! i managed to get the thing working on windows. not on linux, unfortunately. not just yet, that is. on linux, unlike on windows, clicking on Dedicated doesn't seem to shut down the game and start the server, instead, it opens the Unreal Tournament logo with the black background that you get when you press Esc on the main menu.

so now the real question is, how do i create a dedicated server on linux?

Do you make your server directely on jour ut witch it you play with ?

You must creat a copy of your UT and run your server with the copy. after you can connect it with your copy or ut you use to play with

or you will get the message Local nexgen detected like in your screenshot.
