I know what the words mean, but I meant for this forum. They have a listing for moderators but also show they have none. Did they ever??

I ran the houston Texans fan forum for a few years. A moderator is basically someone you "trust" that can come and edit posts that are offensive, and basically help the administrators. Moderators do not have the power to change things unless an admin gives them extra powers. All these forums are generated with the same basic rules. You need administrators to look at the new sign ups and be sure they are not spammers. They can delete/ban ip addresses. They can rearrange forum topics, set up new topics, rearrange the forum however they want, including fonts colors etc. Administrator make all the rules. Moderators basically are set up to help over see the forum, when there is too much content for a few administrators to view every day. The Texans forum had about 30,000 people visits a day and an enormous amount of posts. Obviously I could not read every post made.

I think this forum has a low enough volume that the admin's can handle it. They do not need moderators. But the Vbulletin or whatever forum platform still has a place setting for that. I don't see what the big deal is. That is there to tell you that there are no moderators. If they decide to add some, then that can fill up with the names of them. Just a place holder for some point in the future if they ever decided to add some, which I do not think is necessary here. The guys in chaarge are doing a good job and don't need the extra headache of what if a moderator goes rogue and deletes a ton of posts because he got mad or whatever.

What TexasGtar said, right now there isn't too much of a need, but you never know when one of the admins quits or the forum gets a quick activity boost etc.
As for why 4 admins and no mods, can't remember exactly lol. I started as a Jr. Moderator and got moved to mod then to admin over time.

There were moderators in the past, but they were all sacrificed to the Nali gods in order to keep the forum up and running, that's why there aren't any left, and there's still the empty list to remind those who happen to consider to apply for the position.
They will never be forgotten.

In all seriousness though, there were a few every now and then over time.
But then either they stopped being moderators, or simply moved up to admins, and there haven't been new moderators for a long while, even because they aren't really needed much these days.

Metalfist was Junior-Moderator then Moderator and for a long time now Admin.
If we need help again because this forum will be crowded with people ...we will search for new moderators (maybe first Juniors they can't break much stuff )
