.umx music player

Post by EvilGrins »

Because not all files are the same length and the player in UnrealEd doesn't show minutes and seconds.

Went looking without much luck · search.php?st=0&sk=t&sd=d&sr=posts&keyw ... &start=405

I'd like to find a music player that plays .umx files. No converted to another format, played as is... because I have several hundred .umx and it would be easier to select them if I had a music player that could play them.

Thanks for all the links, though admittedly I hadn't realized I was already covered. OjitroC's listing VLC, which I already had, let me in on I had what I needed all along.

Granted, while it plays .umx files they're not listed in the opening selections. I have to manually type in *.umx after hitting "Open".... but that's okay.

Yes, VLC is what I always use. So many media file extensions supported, it is incredible. Lots of umxs I love to crank up with that player. :D

Have you associated the .umx file type with VLC?

VLC and Winamp cannot handle multi-modules

The final Winamp doesn't need extra UMX support. It is supported by the tracker module plugin, because UMX is just a wrapper for formats it does support.
Mind you the base tracker plugin in Winamp is worth replacing anyway for something built with OpenMPT or LibXMP.
Or just replace entirely with WACUP.

However, if you want to be able to play all the music in multi-modules, such as the Unreal music which contain 2 music tracks (ambient and action), you will need XMPlayer, as it can see the extra track info.

A comparison of VLC and XMPlay with the same multi-mod music track.
Multimods.png
VLC only sees the first part which is 3:46, but XMPlay sees the 2 parts at a full 6:51
