heh, no shortage of stuff in the ol' freezer vault ;) but, naw, I'm sure that's not allowed for this one.

I think I'll try something new, slick styled theme, probably tech - and hopefully some sort of crazy (i.e. different) gameplay

I'm not really interested in a big-load-of-work so keep it manageable and avoid the hom-battles.

I like the idea of a revelation-sized 2-4 player dm, small footprint but vertical and agile... usually built around a cool feature with a nice vista/skydome

hmm, time to crack open the revelation playlist ;)

Cheers

Are you sure?

This is literally the "no rules mapping contest".

How can it not be allowed if there are no rules?

The rule says:
- Must be an original map started by scratch during the contest, not a clone of an existing one (maps started before the contest are accepted as Bonus Maps for the final mappack, however)
So I suppose dusting off an old incomplete map means it's suitable as a bonus map, but won't be part of the contest, if I'm reading this right.

Well, the "no rules" thing is easy to turn around to make sense with the fact that it has rules: instead of calling them "rules", just call them "laws".
Anything with "no rules" still has to obey the law, so there you have it.

So I have created a DOM map, with which I'm working on an idea I think could be fun and is doable. So, here's a basic question for ut modders: is it a big deal to have weapons rendered "harmless" - as in the weapon effect remains but does not actually cause damage to the target. For example, firing a shockrifle bolt would hit a bot/player and still knock them back but not cause them damage. Imagine, a bunch of players fighting each other on a platform, with you firing a nuke at them, the resulting explosion then forcefully tosses them all off the platform... and, how best to implement this "feature"?

FraGnBraG, that idea reminds me of the Bounce! mod for UT99, the problem is that the mod uses a different gametype to set the rules. Now for your map I propose two solutions:

-A mutator (MyLevel) that removes all damage coming from other player or bots.
-Make UT99 weapon counterparts that don't deal damage.
-Use the Bounce! mod.

Here is a link to the mod:https://www.moddb.com/mods/bounce

Hey, papercoffee appears in that link, small world :D
