The whole point is to generate interest & get people participating now, not two years from now. Creating quality content takes time, especially when we all have jobs and family and and other real-life obligations.
Well it's more than just only two years.

The 25th Anniversary of Unreal Tournament's release (November 30, 1999) is 2 years and 4 months away.

If enough people participate, that should be enough time to come up with some really excellent content to celebrate Unreal Tournament's 25th year. Holy crap I am old.

I've gotten myself excited about this idea.

Is anyone else interested enough to commit to providing some content?

I'm willing to commit to re-imagining a couple maps (probably Hydro, Phobos) and maybe a couple skins if time permits.

As mentioned I'd be happy to help create/upgrade textures and work on skyboxes for other participants. I also have video game project management experience, if needed.

Two years should be long enough for me to contribute something :lol2:

I worked at a game studio where my mentor, the studio head, would walk around the office announcing "only six more months until Alpha."
Me and the rest of the team laughed.

Four and a half months later he walked around the office announcing "only six more weeks until Alpha."
And the team smiled.

Five weeks later he would announce "only six more days until Alpha."
By that time we were crapping our pants.

It was this learning experience that motivated me to start this thread now

(I've only completed two maps so far. To get to the level detail, quality, and playability of the great mappers here, it's going to take me at least that long)

Do we have a proper, agreed upon what the hell were going to do?
I wouldn't mind modernising some maps.
Also under the assumption Epic will acknowledge the 25 years we should probably have it all ready for any new players BEFORE anniversary day.

edit:
I've just been stripping back AS-Guardia for a re-build and the brushwork is a fantastic piece of garbage. My partner was upstairs and still heard me swearing at Cliff Bleszinski for his abomination.

I mean we could make a revamp mappack... with lesser known/remaked maps (that means no Face and Deck or Morbias).
And with new textures.
But we should then assign one map to one mapper to avoid to end up with 5 versions of Morpheus.

Well, strictly speaking of UT99:

- Modernizing maps. (But not the usual ones, pick more risky options such as DM-Peak or CTF-Cybrosis][).
- Modernizing beta content (we could do well with a modernized Beta Liandri).

If only I could get some of my motivation back. 😫

However I reported error regarding issues of running patched original 469c Unreal Tournament on GitHub. Because I thought that was very urgent to me.
