Niall's bean gun

Post by wankometer »

Hi guys, long time lurker first time poster (not really, just registered for this but I'll probably do other stuff eventually).

I've been looking for a Mutator I really liked but haven't been able to unearth on any old disks, CDs or on the internet.
I'm of course referring to the one in the title of this thread, Niall's bean gun. It's delightful and I miss it.

Does anyone happen to have this gem in their collection?

Thank you very much :)

Welcome aboard! Might need some more details on this one if you happen to remember anything more:
- Website you might've gotten it from? Could try to see if wayback machine saved it
- Was it part of a bigger weapon pack or just a single weapon?
- Maybe a .zip file name?

Can't find it on my regular places yet

Hi, Thanks for the welcome!

I think it was on that gamespy site which hosted a whole lot of community sites. I want to say beyondunreal but that doesn't look anything like the dark blue I remember.
Haven't been able to remember that one either.

Tried wayback in an attempt to locate it to no avail.

It was a single weapon mutator, and I believe the zipfile was just beangun.zip, for which google nor archive.org were of any help either.

Whoever Niall is/was, I believe they had their own hosted site somewhere as well.

Ah FunnyG made it, made a couple of maps as well that I like :)

The site did save a few mutators actually, sadly not the bean gun
http://web.archive.org/web/*/http://pla ... modsquad/*
(Go to URLs and put ".zip" in the search)

I'll keep looking...

EDIT: @wankometer FOUND IT!
http://web.archive.org/web/200112261141 ... eanGun.ZIP

Had to do it on his website in that modsquad page you linked!

Some more neat stuff here, gonna have a look through later:http://web.archive.org/web/*/http://sco ... /~funnyg/*

Yes, I was wondering that. I haven't tried it with them but it would probably be OK in a StuffSwapper config with them - it offers something a little different in terms of the type/range/damage of its projectiles for example.

ok my windows doesnt like his files for some reason, keep deleting them as soon as I download the .zip files, had to temporarily disable real time protection for MS Defender as it's very likely a false positive. :pfff:
Anyway he seems to be still around with his website here: http://www.niallmoody.com/

Imagine a can of baked beans with a gun grip - held in one hand - fires beans as primary fire and sausages as alt.

A couple of screenshots of it

Not many that I can think of but there is ..

1) Pearman's PearLauncher - fires pear grenades (primary) and pear chunks (alt);
2) CookieWeps's CookieCannon - a big cookie (an UnrealShare Eightball) firing cookies (primary) and dumplings (alt).

Not a weapon per se, but food related, is BUFPack1's CheeseLocator - a piece of Gouda as a translocator.

A further 'deep dive' into u packages may reveal more.

Again not weapons but there are health pickups as cans of Beet and as candy bars.

A related weapon is the Iron Skillet as a melee weapon.

Could include the Sushi Gun here?

Health pickups include ginseng, tinned peaches, canned rabbit stew, soda, wine, whiskey (plus, of course, many cans/bottles of various beers/lagers).

There's also a weapon that fires a pizza (a flat piece of metal with a pizza skin) but I can't remember what weapon it is.
