As the title says, I have the tutorial disc for UT2K4, the 3DBuzz ones. I want to make some meshes (weapons, decorations). But my question is: Can I follow these tutorials and learn? I have Maya 5.0 and 2015 installed, or should I looked for something more "recent" like Blender? I don't know if Blender has the ability to export to UT99/2K4
Thank you!

hello UnrealWarrior,
I found this doc in my ut99 file database, Unreal Tournament 99 Mapping in Blender, I'm not an expert mapper but I hope it can help.
cheers,
Pietro

Thanks Pietro!
I don't want to use Blender because it runs a little slower in my computer...The tutorials that I'm following are old and uses an obsolete software (Maya 5.0), I thought I'd ask to see if there's some limitations by using these 20+ years tutorials lol
PS: I'm trying to make weapons or decoration meshes.
The tutorials can be found it YouTube:

Thanks again!

yes, the main problem maybe is to find 20+ years software to create 3D objects or meshes according to those tutorials.UnrealWarrior wrote: ↑Sat May 27, 2023 12:08 am I don't want to use Blender because it runs a little slower in my computer...The tutorials that I'm following are old and uses an obsolete software (Maya 5.0), I thought I'd ask to see if there's some limitations by using these 20+ years tutorials lol

I just remember 3D Studio Max and Milkshape 3D have been used for long time for 3D modeling in Unreal/UT99/UT200x (old tutorial: viewtopic.php?t=405). I add some docs.
cheers,
Pietro
PS:
if you need old software, write me in private, maybe I can help you.

You can even edit with 3dsmax and export some files you can use in the editor.Whenever filetype you need.
There are some 3dsmax plugins who support the editor.

Blender support.

Much pleasure with it.
Hint barbies server has some 3dsmax modefied skins they looking very good take a look there and be amazed.

I got the same software in the tutorials from archive.org and Maya 2015 from other website...I haven't used 3DS Max before but Milkshape3D is very limited.UTPe wrote: ↑Sat May 27, 2023 10:22 amyes, the main problem maybe is to find 20+ years software to create 3D objects or meshes according to those tutorials.UnrealWarrior wrote: ↑Sat May 27, 2023 12:08 am I don't want to use Blender because it runs a little slower in my computer...The tutorials that I'm following are old and uses an obsolete software (Maya 5.0), I thought I'd ask to see if there's some limitations by using these 20+ years tutorials lol

@rjmno1 : Thanks! I don't about 3DSMax much, but I know it is used in the Max Payne games. The tutorial that I linked to uses Maya, I got the software and the tutorials and ready to go I wanted to ask to see if we "learn from them"...
Link to the tutorials just in case:

Again thanks!
