I didn't create a topic here earlier, having instead discussed it directly on the Discord server, but I created a map inspired by the “Kinepolis” movie theaters.

I still wanted to post here because, as far as I remember, someone asked me if I could make a MonsterHunt mod. Personally, I won't be doing it, as it's not a mod I use particularly often and I don't know (at the moment) how it's set up in UnrealEd. However, I wanted to let everyone know that anyone who wants to edit my map is welcome to do so, I don't mind, that's also why maps exist, to inspire creativity in others.

Re: DM-Killnepolis
I'm impressed with all those seats rendering correctly. Did you use the default build options?
Also, what the deal with the light flicker property causing ugly black tearing on my setup? Is it an FPS issue? (it's Vsync... cant recall ever having this problem on my ancient celeron 433 and CRT setup

Re: DM-Killnepolis
Thanks!
As for the seats, I simply created a brush shape and crossed my fingers that it would work. x)
I compensated for the number of solid seats with a maximum number of semi-solid and non-solid elements on the other hand.
So I didn't tweak anything; it's just UnrealEd 2.2 and a single geometry build (I never trust a complete rebuild, preferring to rebuild each element one by one).

Re: DM-Killnepolis
Let me start with a big positive, I am liking the funny custom movie posters, they really have a kind of charm, especially all the Sadako vs Godzilla ones!
Map itself is interesting the theming not something I've seen before!
Gameplay-wise it's hard to rate. It feels like the theme came first. The flow is a bit odd. Most of the good stuff is located in a single room with one entrance up top. Which could (at least online) easily turn into a "Get the room with all the goodies and guard it" situation! The large open rooms with long hallways make for an effective Cinema backdrop, but are a little rough for a deathmatch arena. And aside from that one room other areas, especially the movie rooms, could do with some more health and ammo pickups.
All in all, I like now it does feel like it could be a real theatre, and I appreciate that you pathed the bots. Something I have seen plenty of maps forget! You also managed to do a lot of interesting stuff using mostly 'base' textures. Keep it up!

Re: DM-Killnepolis
Thanks Kayako. To answer your comment, yes, at the beginning it was the desire to have a cinema map that pushed me to create it. I made sure that the upper room isn't a spawn room, because yea it's the room that gives access to all the rooms through the windows, and which contains interesting items. At the beginning I was not necessarily thinking of a DM, moreover, I had in mind either a DOM or a CTF4. Also I trapped myself a little with the desire to make a map globally in the shape of a star like the "Kinepolis" sign. x)
All I can say is that in the past, with other maps, I sometimes had some "holes" and oddities that would disappear if I used the rebuild tools separately!

Yep, I understand. I had to render the lighting separately several times on my final build to chase away erroneous shadows that cropped up in completely random spots.Virgile wrote: ↑Tue Aug 12, 2025 9:49 pm Thanks Kayako. I made a MH-version of your map and its fairly hard, I had to make some minor changes to make it more suitable for Monsterhunt tho

I downloaded and unzipped your archive with Bandizip without any problems on my end.
You can change the info level and add ‘edit by Hitman’ if you want!
