Well, it is that time again. Time to release a new map!
I had fun making this one. It is a brutalist architecture inspired playground. It is a very large playground.
It may be too large for many, but I made what I made.
Full bot support, full weapons support, though the weapons do not shoot all the way across the map.
I suggest using any mod that increases the weapons firing distance, and one that enables more bots than the default 16.

It is intentionally a little dark on the default F11 brightness setting 5, this is for the thematic look. But it should not be pitch black anywhere.

I hope you like it and would be interested in hearing your feedback.

I would describe this as an abstract brutalist artwork. The scale is immense and things are separated by vast distances. You sometimes go so long without seeing another person that it almost feels wrong to kill them when finally encountered. It's an environment wherein people ought to stick together lest they never see each other again. This is not a fast-paced map, even with the recommended upper limit of 32 players.

The suffocating concrete colors are rarely but meaningfully contrasted by certain regions brightly lit with a different color, and the player instinctively gravitates towards these islands of unique chromaticity, thereupon finding them actually just as imposing and bleak as anywhere else. At first I wanted to describe this map as a place people are not meant to be. But that's wrong. It honestly feels like a place that people are neither welcome nor forbidden. It is a place that doesn't care about your presence one way or another.

I don't know that I can say this is a good map to play given how slow it can be, but it is awe-inspiring merely as a space to explore and meditate in, and it's one of my favorite maps in a very long time. I imagine sniper battles could be real fun; there's plenty of good vantage points.

holy f*ck it reminds slightly to a movie played by christian bale and an irish actor(he palyed lord of rings, I cannot remember his name) those buidings.... scary! XD
pd: if the map is too large, you could try to spot a sort of translocator-place in strategical places of the map trying not to abuse them, so peeps still could travel time to time on these places

Man, I can't think of the movie either, will now have to find it.

"a sort of translocator-place" I am not sure I understand what this would be. Could you explain it some more? I did try to eleviate some of the distance issue at least in the buildings by using teleportors instead of lifts or stairs.

This is a simple example of a 469-only map. But... it might not be a real problem... it can be scaled at a lower size.

Vanilla UT WILL NEVER deal with MORE than 1000 Navigation Nodes, simple as that.

Edit: Scaling to a lower size will cause very narrow spots, out of any access. I'm moving this out of repository.

A really atmospheric map - vast and forbidding, cold and brutal. I think that you have achieved the effect you set out to create.

Certainly suits my style of play - stealthy hunting and sniping. Fairly easy to move around the higher levels with the teleporters (and using an enhanced xloc) - can also shoot across the map both ways using a Counter Strike AWM. Have only wandered around the map so far so I look forward to spending a lot of time playing in it.

So thanks for yet another impressive and enjoyable map :tu:

Lol again my brain! i mean putting a "teleporter" door in some place (in very few places, 2-3 teleporters placed themselves at very long and far distance is enough to avoid ruining the entire walk over the map), think about don't cool down the heat of battle, even if the map is designed for sniping. That way, players won't get bored.

The standalone buildings look great. It's a good aesthetic for old Unreal. Big bold shapes looming over you that have a satisfactory feeling of 'completeness' despite the lack of minute details. Don't have a lot to say about the gameplay; the map is simply too big. I tried TDM and spawned about 70 or so bots in the end but it still didn't flesh out :lol2: I did try telling all the bots to cover me and I soon had a huge mob. Definite potential there if only the other team could organise :loool:
