You never heard about asking the authors whether you're allowed to upload their creations, or at least giving credits, have you?

Quoting from Forts Of Time (for example):
This Package may be electronically distributed only at NO CHARGE to the recipient in its current state, MUST include this .txt file, and may NOT be modified IN ANY WAY. YOU MUST NOTIFY ME (SWANKY, email: ----- ) IF YOU UPLOAD IT ONTO ANY OTHER WEBSITE.

1. I dont must ask the authors... do you think i ask every author of every mod, mutators, maps and so on?
2. Credits are in the readme documents in the packages. If not, than its the problem of the author.
3. I have NOT modified the packs and I have notified swanky that i upload it here.

All right! ;)

w00t, congrats!

You should add the new official ClanBase Cup map packs too, when they become available in the next week or so.
And any of the other map packs that are used in 'official' competitions.

Oh boy, this is not a way to start a community. :nonono:
Of course nobody can coerce you to ask them, but with only a minimum of decency you'd do so anyhow. And to be honest, everyone who calls himself an admin should have that much decency.

What are the bounce maps about? Is there something special about them?

actually anything created in UT is the property of the creators of UT. Credits to authors are cool though.
so people can claim that they own the rights to software that isn't theirs to begin with all they want. Still they created the mods, maps, etc using epics software. UED

This was taken from epics site.

For the sake of clarity you will not gain any ownership whatsoever in any Epic content or script nor can you use any Epic content outside the scope of the rights granted here. Any attempt to do so will bring about the wrath of our attorneys.

v. Your Mods must be distributed solely for free, period. Neither you, nor any other person or party, may sell them to anyone, commercially exploit them in any way, or charge anyone for receiving or using them without prior written consent from Epic Games Inc. You may, exchange them at no charge among other end-users and distribute them to others over the Internet, on magazine cover disks, or otherwise for free.

again a nice credit to the creators is a nice thing to do. Anyone claiming copyrights on their work/creations is completely prohibited. Since you are using UED to to make final compiles of maps mods mutators etc.. it still belongs to epic.

Sorry fro the long rant but for years people claim to OWN their work when they don't. You are using epics software. the only license a creator of mods maps etc has is the one granted to them by epic.. which just allows you to use their software and distribute freely thats it.

mojito,
Most, not all, but most of the people who did this stuff are long gone and have left for other things. I know I tried contacting the guy who made CTF-RedNeckNeighbors and never got an answer, all I got was kicked back email that was not deliverable. The Admin here is not taking these files and presenting them as his own, he is only reviving them in their original state.

In other words, "Lighten Up Francis"

You don't own the maps, but they are your intellectual property, and therefor the authors acknoledgement must be given in order to use them.
And telling something about "mappers being gone" might be true in some cases, but for nearly all of the packs Shade uploaded, the contributors are still active. Besides, you cannot know whether they are "gone", if you don't even try to contact them...

Heh, my textures are my property. They weren't made in UT. For all of who want to use it shall pay me 5$ or I'll call my lawyer !! :ironic:
And you can't contact every author that made some maps or two for UT. Most of them don't even include a description/email address.
Also if you guys would spread my UT maps I'd be even happier.
