Site Update News!
Dear Community!
As you can see, I have decided to add a portal to the board. I thought it would be better to use one software for everything, instead of adding a wordpress blog.
I am sorry about the standard theme yet, it wasn't possible to import the old theme after updating the forum software and installing the portal. After I will have finished the more important updates, I will try to give the site more UT-feeling again.
I have also installed a Download Base. You will find the link in the top right navi (I will add a more visible link in the portal menu too, of course). The Download Base is still under construction.
So what do you think about it? Any category suggestions or other wishes related to the Download Base?
I have added a user traffic management to the download base which I will explain here.
The following data counts for every single user:
Guests: 100 MiB free traffic per month
Newly registered users: 200 MiB free traffic per month
Registered users: 300 MiB free traffic per month
Honorary Members: 500 MiB free traffic per month
Site Staff: 1 GiB free traffic per month
Administrators: 1 GiB free traffic per month
Additional Rules:
For every opened thread you get 1MB extra free traffic per month
For every written post, reply or quote you get 0.5MB extra free traffic per month.
You may wondering, why I have set the limits so high. There is an easy explanation: We have many big download files, which have more than 50-100 MB. UT-files should be free for everyone. I just have to set (high) limits to avoid excessive download-activities.
If you want to watch your left traffic for this month, have a look at the bottom of the Downloade Base.
You can report new downloads in the forum "Report new Downloads" and you can discuss about existing download files in the forum "Download Discussions". For every download file, you will find a thread there.
So what are my next steps:
I will add a Knowledge Base (where users will be able to write too), tidying up/optimize the Portal, add all downloads files I have collected so far (that will be much work *phew*), and I will install some useful MODs to make the board-life a bit more comfortable.
I am also planning to add server trackers of certain UT-servers on the portal page or on an extra page. But first things first.
So far...
I would be glad about some Feedback (including Critism!) and Suggestions.
Oh, and if you find any bugs, please tell me as soon as possbible!

First!!
Wow nice update... the portal is well done ...but it was a shock first to see such bright colours on UT99.org.
But as you said already you'll fix this.
keep up your good work ...
So ...one thing: The preview and submit button very down below
... maybe you can put the button more near the text field?

At first good job on updating/renewing the forums
So what is UT-files exactly? For me it only sounds like patches and official bonuspacks. At least our bonuspack with the latest patch should be free, too
Does "UT-files" also include our UTR? If not it would be very uncomfortable for new users to have acces to it: Either they have to wait one month or they must write 300 posts!Shade wrote: Guests: 100 MiB free traffic per month

Shade, I need somewhere to post my UT99 voicepacks. The UT99 section at Levels4you.com is dying, and this (UT99.Org) is where folks are. What say? Will the Download base include VPs?Shade wrote:I have also installed a Download Base. You will find the link in the top right navi (I will add a more visible link in the portal menu too, of course). Awesome job Shade! As an idea, can't we just throw in really fast temp dark grey theme unless you have something UT-like? White really hurts my eyes atm.

No, the UTR is hosted on extern file hosters, as you can see here: http://www.ut99.org/utr/infopage.html#Downloadeditor Dave wrote:At first good job on updating/renewing the forums

I will add it in the Download Base too, but as "extern download". So it will be still hosted on extern filehosters, but you can find it in our Download Base.

Re: Site Update News!
If you have enough Voicepacks and if there are some other spread over the internet, i will either add the category "Voicepacks" or rename the category "Soundtracks" in something like "Sound packs"Sergeant Todd wrote:Shade, I need somewhere to post my UT99 voicepacks. Re: Site Update News!
Okay, but... why? I mean, it's our mappack and this site offers the fastest download speed. Besides it is a much better advertising for this site when you can download it from here, tooShade wrote: No, the UTR is hosted on extern file hosters, as you can see here: http://www.ut99.org/utr/infopage.html#Download
