Unreal Tournament slowsdown on win7

Post by dixEEh »

hi gents

i recently reinstalled my computer, and installed the same OS i used before. (win7homepremium64).

I also installed UT from the very same disk as before. Now i have the following problem.
On all drivers, (software rendered, OpenGL, Direct3d, etc) i have slowdowns during gameplay. First it goes smooth, the next it goes in slowmotion, and visa versa.
All drivers on the computer are updated.
Does anyone have a idea what might be the problem?

Greetings

Oh well Windows 7 x64. I can not deny my update from XP 32 bit Home to Win 7 x64 Prof worked without problems (ut2004 ed nearly screwed up O_o e.g.).
Anyway: compatibility mode (xp sp 3)?
Or what about these drivers here http://www.cwdohnal.com/utglr/ ?
Strange enough, under XP I had to use D3D9, since the UT default D3D did let my pc feel like a pc with specs below UT1... while now it works .. flawlessly.

Do you even know if he has an AMD Dual core?

Well yearh, I had to install this thingy in my XP times. With one of the more modern quads and Win 7.. seems not to be required anymore.

This is one of the many reasons why I prefer both Intel and nVidia over AMD and ATI (Intel and nVidia are more expensive, but they totally worth the money).
I always had Intel+nVidia and this combo never gave me problems at any given time no matter what the OS was, both in desktops and laptops, while the other two.... well... :barf:

Use latest OpenGL and suggestions from this thread: http://www.ut99.org/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=373
It is extra important to limit your framerate.

I had the versa experience. had more problems with nvdia/intel especially nvidia than with amd/ati.

@dixEEh
If you have amd laptop install the multi core fix.

Use this UT it is all patched and ready for solved a lot of problemes . http://unrealtournament.99.free.fr/foru ... hp?f=4&t=7

and maybe if it is not enough take a MultiCoreFix http://unrealtournament.99.free.fr/utfi ... oreFix.zip
or a patch multicore AMD if you are under amd processors. http://unrealtournament.99.free.fr/utfi ... er_113.zip
