I know this is not a useful texture, but as the thread title says "Random Texture", here is a picture of my suit.
That is a Spongebob badge pinned on it
Don't worry, this is my only foolish post in this thread.

Excellent textures for walls. Very tile-able.
Wallpaper sellers/manufactures would be great sites for hi-res textures.
Saving them now :tu:
*EDIT*
Had a quick go at slicing a tile. The gradients are more annoying in the others, but I'm close.
Irfanview has the ability to switch on a grid inside the selection rectangle, making this much easier :D

I tried myself to make an old fashioned SNES/N64 themed treeline for a .. possible map? I dunno...
Most likely I would place normal meshtrees with the corresponding textures seen on the treeline texture.

That is quite effective. I guess if the top is sculpted into lumpy tree shapes, you get a believable dense canopy.

This was more or less where I got the idea:

If you can match rounded shapes in the upper sections, to the width of the tree textures, or even just make it randomly curved, to disguise the flatness.
Early stages I guess, but it just needs some points of depth to fake it nicely.
Though creepers/vines or flowers can disguise the edges well.
What would be good for getting the effect of "This is so dense, I cannot walk through it" would be thorn-bushes (like in the fairy-tales) which would also give you the excuse of using "pain zones" to keep players away from areas.

Not 100 % sure If I understand what you mean, however it sounds like I need a lot of more polygons for this. Not looking forward for this. Actually I have started to transfer "some" details from polygons to textures in order to avoid the every time repeating annoying bug-fixing-process-which-did-never-work-very-well-at-all. Actually - in case I have ever done that - I do not try to hit the polygon and bsp limits of the engine anymore. This is connected with way too much trouble and after effects.
With static meshes (UEngine 2 and further and/or these from 227) I would not even use such tree-lines at all. Most of the current higher quality ut1 maps got recently dropped, because their creators were just pissed because of the bsp trouble. This is really just something with which you should not deal anymore. After nearly 3 years I really try to finish something again. The island has right now a "how can I proceed" problem, such linear looking maps can be just "build" without too much thinking in terms of layout.

Yes it would be more polygons :(
but I was only thinking of very basic shaping, just to break up the top, or when you are looking up it may look too straight.
Looking at your picture though I can see that the variety of curves in the map may mean the player never gets to see a straight line.
I may well be raising an un-necessary point again !

a texture pack I have used...not sure where it is from (I didn't make it...just converted it). I found this folder with all these textures in it on my desktop. I downloaded it about 2 years or so ago. Have no idea where it is from or what game. I just converted the jpg to pcx 256 color. Low res I think 256+256. But...nice space/alien goes well with skaarj.utx and queen.utx.

Thanks for that. I'm editing a very badly textured map at the moment.

@E|eMeNT

First: He can't because he is not that active any more here.
Second: You have to save the files with indexed colours as .bmp or .pcx ...only then can you import this picture into the U-Editor.
Third: I think those picture are maybe too big...
