New maps off another forum

Post by EvilGrins »

Since I know we're all starving for new maps, everytime a new mapper pops up, of any skill level, he/she gets flooded with requests, so when I spotted this post just a few minutes ago and thought I'd share.

Ignore most of the comments to, or at least the signatures on them. The maps themselves look pretty damned good.

They look good because they're original authors made'em look that way, and these guys are editing them.
Can't they just leave these alone and look for other maps to play? Or atleast edit the maps that actually NEED editing?

What maps would you like to be edited and how? We've got some mappers in this forum. Make requests!

What're your maps?
:loool:
I wouldn't edit without asking first.

based on the page shown via the link, why do you think those look "good"?

look closely, what you see there is just "average" (if that...)

nothing over there comes close to what you've seen around here

I'm taking this one as sarcasm. Wouldn't be the first time that some tries to change something... FnB may remember some site like 7 or 8 years ago that uploaded our maps with their own watermarks and changed readmefiles. The outcome wasn't pretty - the whole site vanished quickly.

Well I'm starting to edit this one, fixing the skybox and the torches a bit, but since the author is unknown (with no readme and no Author name in the map), I think I'll keep this edit for myself:

If you are looking for that are off the grid or the internet ,We make several maps every month .
Unless we make a big sniper map we do put them up for download. Maybe we should though .
They are on the servers for game play and can download them through our query tool on the front page .

Here is the link If you want to check them out
http://www.dfbgaming.com/modules.php?name=dFb_Maps

Here is the main page with the query tool in the middle of the page .Just click on the ut99 server to see who is playing and what map . Where it tells the name of the map , you can click the download link below it and get the map that whoever is playing .

Check this out: http://planetunreal.gamespy.com/View.ph ... il&id=2266

I believe it is the same map, the version you have may be a clan edit or something.

Edit: I also happen to know he hangs out here : http://www.gtfrc.com/forums/member.php?39-QuazBotch

Well, I can't say that it's an edit of the 1st kbuoy, because the layout is different, and the original was built better (v1 is a small arena, and v2 is more of a regular dm kind)
Thanks for finding QuazBotch, though. Maybe he knows something...

If you refer to the previous post: This is a copied skybox from a stock ut map (DM-KGalleon). It isn`t new ... something like that is not an effort you have to appreciate in any way.
About to be non-active
My very last UT map project: CTF-FacePalm (tropical CTF-Face remake)
Why do I leave? click here
What I want to do next: Joining an UDK team (uncertain however) and improve 3D modelling and texture editing skills
Thanks to those who visibly supported me until/at the end!
My reactivated account on indiedb.com.
