Your favourite song from the U/UT series?
I always enjoy a good soundtrack while playing, and UT has plenty of good tracks for me. My favourites ought to be Organic, the Unreal Intro and Mech8. What is your favourite U/U2/UT/UT2k3/UT2k4/UT3 music soundtrack?
My work for UT99: Counter-Strike VP, MaleOne+ (now updated), FemaleOne+ and the FemaleTwo220 voicepacks DM-XC-NaliTreeV2 (from the 2012 Xmas Contest mappack), DM/DOM-20AC-CastleGeorgeV3 (from the 20th Anniversary Contest mappack), DM-UFFO, DM-WreckingBall, (NEW!) CTFM-Sundial

From the original set?
U1 - utend (I've always wondered what the ut meant in utend...) and UTemple
UT - Godown and Forgone Destruction
UT2k4 - Godown 2, Absolute Zero, SDG-ONS08.
Really miss the old days when I was just a noob to Unreal 1... first time I went into the Rrajigar Mines I was scared sh'tless by that first Skaarj... *shivers*
But hell do I LOVE a good match of DM. EVERY MAN, WOMAN AND NALI FOR THEMSELVES!!

This is Eevee, a ferocious creature that never relents in tracking its meal. It will lead you to ruin, and when it does, it will finish you.

Well, although it's no longer exactly my favorite, Strider was the one which stuck in my mind back when I found out UT, and remained that way for years.

Re: Your favourite song from the U/UT series?
Too many for me to list. Really, I know that isn't an answer but a deflection, however, it is completely true. I couldn't pick just one. However, a thought...
All of these remixes etc are of course, fine in their own right and good for some. However I believe that if one wants to keep something special one must limit exposure and these remixes tempt me against my better judgement. I have all of the soundtracks for all Unreal games, but never listen to them outside the game. This keeps them tied to the game, tied to the memory and truly special. This is where game OSTs differ from just being "music"; they are purposeful and tied to images, moments and events in a way that regular songs aren't so much.
Last night when I was playing with the incredible NW3 and Forgone came up...there it was...taken back 14 years in an instant. If I were to put these on my MP3 device, they would lose all associative powers, something that is too precious for me to have happen. These songs deserve more than a generic subway ride as a memory cue. So, I avoid the remixes generally (except the Phrakture remix, which is very well done; not just cranking up the bass, a new EQ setting or running the song through some cheesy flanger, etc, which is what most call a "remix" these days).
Anyhow, the music in U1 and UT is truly epic.
