It has come to the attention of my colleagues and I that there is a User here that is Posting Threads in hopes of having Other People Do The Thinking For Them. This phenomena originated in the lost city of TheOldunrealLookupTable-antis. Here, we document these artifacts and their complete uselessness to the general populace, despite being frequently renamed as "[GUIDE]" topics when indeed they have No Worth.

Please be aware that the member that Generates these Topics is essentially seeking someone else to Baggage in hopes of them doing the thinking for them. There has been next to no documented learning of the Offender to date, and they have apparently abandoned The Oldunreal Lookup Table in hopes of new outsourced thinking/coding being designated as ut99 dot org.

A RPG game is doable but having some years of coding experience on the back not by reading a couple of Wiki pages and posting codes which have issues even in compiling. First thing to learn for anyone is SYNTAX in coding and... nvm... I'm thinking "what are bits" in random moments of reading this forum...
Like I'm a sort of writer which wants to complete a book started. But suddenly I'm asking people "what are letters"... :what: .

I am just joking homie. Don't get that username, much less think he's spamming shit in OldUnreal. That's normal help! He is doing a normal RPG game and it has been very cool. You can't simply do the "oh crap lemma report him" because he don't understand something or something else...

but yes, here it happens as well.

Ouch. It does look kinda lazy when you line it all up like that. I've been helping him a ton via this board's PM system to try to stem some of these postings. I like the guy but I'm about to tap out. Almost every question he asks is answered already either in code examples or in existing questions on here or OldU. It's good to be inquisitive and questioning but you do need to moderate things and not over-ask.

Asked Dr. Flay of this site and HellKeeper of OldUnreal to delete all of my posts in the UScript board. Going dark on these sites until I only have content to post. You guys are right, I can see how this could be seen as spam so I'll just roll with the advice. I'm not looking to have other people think for me, but if that is how what I am asking for is being seen then I'm obviously doing something very wrong to the point of discontent of the board users.

And for anyone that this post isn't making sense to (somehow), OP is talking about me. It's pretty obvious I've screwed up so I'll come back when I can leave a better impression on the community.

Worst case scenario, LannFyre is lazy and incompetent, which is not a crime.
I don't know anything about UScript or Lann's history though.
Starting an anonymous topic to shame the guy in public isn't very nice either, I'd point out.
You must construct additional pylons.

Lann's a really nice guy, he just suffers from what many of us developers do: tunnel vision. You get so consumed at getting that next step to work that you lose focus on the overall larger picture. God knows I've done this too. Lann and I spoke some via PM and he's more aware of being careful.

Truth be told I did this same exact thing yesterday with Bob. I've been working on a mod called "goCostume" that lets you change models and skins on the fly simply by walking through a 'tanning booth' type device. Working out the exact procedure so that I don't affect player's default settings was tricky and I got a little to focused on getting it right and probably over-asked Bob for advice. He's a trooper though and didn't complain but when I stepped back and looked at our conversation I probably overdid it a bit.

Sometimes we as makers need to be told "Do your work." It's not really that big a deal. Lann will be back, better than ever.

Not commenting one way or the other about Lann, but isn't UEd extensively documented? It seems to me that there is an abundance of information on the software and if one really wanted to learn, it's all out there...

...to start.

Problems start when one moves too quickly, asking questions with the fastest means to an end in mind and and not spending enough time learning the processes necessary to achieve that end.

Anyhow, no need to 'go dark' Lann. Enough drama around here these days, so just carry on mindfully. :)

Casey, I've said this before, but when you respond with random images, memes, and shit like this, the only person who can really be blamed for LannFyre not quite getting the "look more stuff up before you ask" message in the first place is you. You told me that it was just your way of trying to get him to improve, but that's a really terrible way to teach anything useful.

I told you dude, don't post walls of code. No one is going to take the time to read it. This is your main problem, people try to tell you things and you just completely ignore them and do what you want. If this mess above compiles then *COMPILE IT* and post the U file only. If we want to look at the code we know fully well how to do that. Jesus dude, get a clue!

This is part of the PM I sent to you and you ignored:
- Don't post any more code than absolutely necessary to ask your question. If it's more than three or four lines then you have a larger issue than posting code. Maybe reframe the question or ask another way. No one wants to debug 100 lines of code before they even can consider your question. That's just asking too much.
If you want to continue this then do me a favor and don't put my name into your posts. It paints me with the same brush and we both know I've been trying very hard to help you in a way that doesn't cause you discomfort. You are one of these guys that's just not going to learn. That's it brother, I'm tapping out from you.

This is a place to show and share work. Indeed if you look at the section heading "Coding, Scripting" then this is the very place to post it.
My feeling on a wall of code is just use the spoiler tag. Those who do not wish to read it, can easily ignore it.

However Jack has stated it quite clearly;
"Don't post any more code than absolutely necessary to ask your question..."

Different sites have very different attitudes to how and why posts are made, and yes we are fairly strict compared to many.
This is due to trying to look forward another 5 years or more, and imagine how easy or difficult it will become to find existing resources quickly.
We don't have tags, so searching for anything with an over-used word gets blocked.
eg. you cannot search for "Unreal Weapons". Both words have been too heavily used.
At the point the words "Code" and "Script" are not searchable we will have a problem.

This is a limitation of the forum database code. I assume it suffers an overflow error above a certain amount of references.
Possibly a phpBB update or addon can deal with it, but addons come at a price. Every bolt-on gadget to a site risks adding another vector of attack, so this site is very lean on extras.
Wordpress suffers from this and is currently seeing a spike in being used to distribute malware (especially ransomware), and many plugins get used to generate DoS attacks or amplify them (our recent attack has a wordpress boot-print in some of it).

Please continue to post blocks of code, but perhaps ask the connected problem in a post first, then paste or PM code.
Often it is better to attach a an archived txt file if it is large. I do this with my int and ini edits so it is more convenient for people to read and use.
