Who wants to make a Doom monster for UT?

From one of many edits of a certain Dark Forest map, I revealed I was doing a Doom rendition with...

Also some Quake ones, and a few other randoms that sorta fit both themes.

With JackGriffin here only sporadically, I was wondering if anyone else here knows how to make monsters?

In the vein, not all monsters are originals. Many people have taken existing player models and coverted them into monsters. For example:

Biggest problem with that site is all but 1 model held their weapons at a really wonky angle.

It's one of the first sites I found when I first started grabbing models back in the day, and while it's a miracle it's still up... none of the downloads work anymore. So, anybody doing this would have to hunt down an existing download for the thing before converting it.

You may wanna make the CyberDemon taller than it is (in Doom they're quite tall, about Warlord height) and you wanna ditch its weapon hold. Some kind of energetic attack and melee hit (believe it could hit people so they went flying a bit; haven't played Doom in forever).

So... any takers?

Actually most of the models on that site would make great conversions into UT monsters, if anybody wants to go there.

I kid you not. I had a bit of a thought. I had seen some Doom and Doom 2 monsterhunt maps and thought some monsters to go with them would do wonders.

Anyone know if the 2d versions exist for UT at the current moment? If not I wouldn't mind working on getting them converted.

They would need custom AI code. To better fit how Doom played.

Sorry EG, just saw this.

Bob and I talked about this very thing at length a few months back. We even went so far as to code the base class for anyone to make 2D monsters to use in UT. It's not terribly hard to create the suite of animations that they need to use and then make a template so really anyone can make the sprite package they want to use. If you google 'Sprite sets" you'll find hundreds of import ready sprites that would work.

The main thing that stopped us was fun factor. Honestly they just don't fit in the UT world. There's a bit of novelty when you first see them but that wears off quickly and pretty soon they start to just look ugly and out of place.

So yeah, if this is something one of you guys wants to take on I'll show you how far we got and advise you some but I think ultimately it's a partial waste of time.

The Black Hole ...the one movie besides Star Wars which got me to draw as a little one. Robots were the start.
We need the other robots and cyborgs from The Black Hole ...Maximilian, we need him as a Monster Hunt Boss.

Then again, they've also got a Mr. Hanky model... so not all should be converted.

Oh, and if anybody jumps the gun on conversions to monsters? One of those under there is a Shambler, you can probably just map that over a SkaarjBerserker or something. Big and slashy!
