Does anybody know - will you need to pay for an engine to make mods? I mean, when game will be finished, how it will be possible to make mods for UT4?
Integrated editor such all games from Unreal series had? Or i will need to buy an engine?
If the last variant - that's sucks...
You have to subscribe with a little fee (I don't know exactly how much ...have to search it again) to get the engine at first.
The monthly fee is only if you want to have engine updates... you can still use a non updated version to make mods or skins. But if you want to go into heavy modification or total conversions do you need the engine updates.

The game itself is free.

Oh that is how things are going..
But what if i, for example, for five months had no money for updates. And then on the sixth month i finally get some money.
Will i need to pay for ALL those months i did not updated the engine?

No, just the newest update all other updates are included.
It's for people who want to make continuous content and sell it.
Many people will make free stuff but you can also try to get little money for their work.
Try to read here how everything will work https://forums.unrealtournament.com/ maybe they have changed something.
That's my last state of knowledge... but it can be that I'm already wrong.

Like taking a predominantly DM franchise and trying to make it a team based game. No offense but to all those people inviting others to play do you really want to invite them to this? You're likely to put people off ever trying it again. Wait until it is further along and playable

Its pre-alpha mate. Loads of work to do but its cool to be along for the ride. Instead of just hating on it, get in and contribute to change. That's the beauty of this method; you are invited to make it better. The Epic team are reading the forums and paying attention to constructive ideas. Anyhow, it isn't buggy at all for me; I have been having a blast with it.

only problem I have found with it , is that it requires a Ninja-KickAss Rig or it's very noticeably laggy..

in saying this I have been toying with some other Games built on the Engine ...

- tale of 2 brothers
- The Vanishing of Ethan Carter-CODEX

the abilities of these engines are phenomenal to say the least.

That's the problem with every pre-alpha game ...everything is still raw and nothing is optimised.

Then you are either using a REALLY old pc or you are using an old version or your settings are set too high. I can run ut4 at 60fps on my 5 year old laptop that can't run any "new" graphically intense game like shadow warrior 2013, rise of the triad 2013, borderlands 2, etc above 30fps on low settings.
The fact that even this early in development I can run the fancy looking stuff at 60 with everything at low at 1366x768 with the render reduction set to50% resolution and still have good UI is amazing! Sure, I admit that without using render reduction the game runs at ~30fps but that is still very impressive when the game is still VERY rough.

One of the many forums I frequent, one more geared to more advanced versions of UT, is Unreal-Old-Friends.

Here's a redo they're doing of an older UT-map · http://unrealoldfriends.activeboard.com ... bris-2015/

I have played ut 4 now also online ofcourse.
It has the feeling of movement of ut 99 also the bot behaviour.
The movement of strafe is not so good you also turn the direction of the strafe (maby they tweak it becouse of the alpha state of the game).
Ill hope they made a ut 99 mod also for this game.
Just wanna say to everyone keep up the good work and also for the epic games programmers and devolpers.
And ofcourse for the community also.
As in for deck 16 they still have a ton of work and all other levels also.
I did'nt knew that making a game it takes that alot of time to fine tune everything.
I,m very curious when a level is finished and how the textures looks like, ill hope its rendered in directx 11.2 becouse i have a windows version and a videocard who support this renderer from microsoft.

Ill hope they will make a opengl renderer for this games also, just like ut 99.

Mark Rein has revealed on Twitter that the classic series is going to make a comeback and that the official announcement is set to debut next week.
yes just like ut99.
I dont want any verhicles
just add some unreal 1 skins also and some older maps from the community also remake them.
I saw the lava from a under devolpment bunnitrack map and it looks realy awsum thanks to evilgrins.
and add some ut 2004 skins also, and everything looks awsum.
Maby adding a new skaarj will be great.
And i hope they will make a third party opengl render also.
and all remakes from the ut 99 maps. :loool:
and remakes from the ut 99 demo maps also.
I,m hoping from a enhanched version and remake from ut99, but then everything in highrez.
And make some high compressed textures also.lol :tu:

classic series well does ut 2004 is classic?yes then make all maps from ut 2004 and skins also into this new ut4.
I,m hoping of a very cool playable release of this new ut4.

Unreal Tournament 2015

Post by Elayne_Trakand »

Unreal Tournament 2015 is in Pre-Alpha. If it's a faithful well down representation of the original with only slight additions (wall jumps/double jump) then {**Elayne_Trakand**} will return to Unreal. :)
