Does anyone have experience of setting up a Linux installation of the UT server?
I don't have access to the setup and have to rely on remote hands making changes. This is a small price to pay for free servers.
I'm working with tech support at my provider to fix a problem where all settings from MapvoteLA13 are not being applied.
For example, I configure the mapvotela.ini to load SLV and the Nali weapons 3 IRPR rifle.
In game the changes do not apply. No matter what setting I make, those settings do not show up on the server.
This is 100% not a ini issue, its the server not applying the settings.
Anyone seen this problem before and any suggestions as to what could cause this to happen?

That warning explains it.
Either the directory does not exist, or the UT.ini file has an error and is not pointing at it correctly.
The preferences directory, usually ~./loki/ut/System is where all the ini files should be in a linux server
install. Are any of your other settings working? I would guess it is running with all defaults.....

Preferably, instead of replying AGAIN, you edit your previous postPileyrei wrote:Short reply! Thank you. Will feedback and reply again.

Re: Linux server setup help
Edit my original post to reply to a post below?
That just doesn't flow right. I understand not to reply in a row I.e dont double post but to say I should have edited my original/the first post to reply is just plain stupid seeing as it was the opening post.
Is this for real?

Re: Linux server setup help
It looks like you did edit that post yesterday while I was replying.
You had an error line from the log file initially, and now it is gone.
So my reply no longer makes sense.
You should edit the first post to put that back, and then reply to
this post with a new post.
Are we having fun yet?

But it seems I have to.Gustavo6046 wrote:Also I don't need you to tell me what should I tell people to do.
You lectured Pileyrei on base of half-truths and you were in the wrong.
If you want to discuss this further write me a PM ...we shouldn't derail this thread.

Re: Linux server setup help
Gustavo6046 I know you are trying to be helpful or light-humoured, but you just added confusion because....
by posting what you said you made it invalid.
Pileyrei cannot double post because you made it impossible already.
All that aside for one moment, it may help to notice that Pileyrei has been here for almost exactly 7 years, so should know the rules by now
Now while you face-palm yourself, we will try to forget you were not paying attention.

Re: Linux server setup help
Correct! I removed it after checking our setup and no longer saw it. However, it dawned on me that it wont show in the server log and only the tech folks will see it. I think your first reply is the answer for sure! Big thanks and I will also send you a PM with some more info if that's ok?MrLoathsome wrote:It looks like you did edit that post yesterday while I was replying.

Thanks Dr.Flay and papercoffee as well
