Seriously, next year will probably be the 3072x3072x3072 size limit contest... that one should have more than 4 maps hopefully
I thought we all agreed on that one.
Seriously though, let me know on what kind of contest you all want... I say the time would depend on what kind of contest we agree... for example if we decide on a max filesize or that 3072x3072x3072 uu size contest than it would be 1-4 weeks... while others might need up to 8 weeks I think.
Also.... I just now remembered I still haven't uploaded the mappack.... FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU.......

Mild recommend, give a week longer than the usual timetable. Almost every time there's always a couple mappers insisting they need just 1 more week.
Let's just shove that extra week into the event!
That's retarded. They need one more week because they messed up. If you give them one more week from the start, they'll still need one more and you'll still have people who need just a few days.
On the contrary, rules are rules, after midnight of the last day everything goes to the "forfeit" pile.
Then what about having a better system to govern the time limit?
All messed-up entries in the deadline will have 3 or so bonus days to be fixed. The event organizers should be able to provide the tools to accelerate in case of any tedious and superlong task (like renaming each actor in a huge level).
If they keep messed up after this new deadline (which is exclusive to those), then they should be put in a separate ranking. And maybe participate of the main as well if it's worth it. So we can also know how good are some messed-up maps without the non-messed up ones

I like the idea as well.
The theme and file size is up to the mapper but its map must fit into a 3072³ cube (playable area)
I have already an idea for a great CTF map which would fit into it.
And maybe I can finish the Void map for this contest.
Thought I would have a play with a 3072 box. Made a neat little bit of terrain that would work with an idea iv had. Added a few temporary "buildings" for scaling. .. there's a lot more room in this box than I thought especially if you can make good use of the z axis.
hope someone else is up for this....
edit... phone uploaded the picture rotated! sorry about that!!

Man, just take a screenshot next time. Looking good so far , and you're right about z-axis potential.

We didn't even start the contest ... Hey staff crew how about a poll?
Haven't seen other suggestions for themes, so I'm guessing a poll might be superfluous at this point?
Just have to decide on the time-frame.
I vote for a 5 min LIVE mapping contest too. The one that makes the most ugly cubic room ever wins never ending pride.
For the official one I'd say 2 weeks, with max 1 week extension.
Btw, I'm more than happy to provide my host as a public upload file location.
I'll create an open FTP account for all participants if they like. Or is it dropbox that you often use? Or something else?
