You can upload multiple files in one go, it just can drop the upload midway if your connection isn't stable.

Oh, I was doing them one at a time.

Regardless, it won't let me upload anymore... I'll try again tomorrow.

I find it a bit trippy that if I click on my name on the site...
https://unrealarchive.org/authors/evilgrins.html
..it only brings up the uploads I did last week.

But if I run a search of my name...
https://unrealarchive.org/search/index. ... =EvilGrins
...it pops up 100 results.

2 of those results I had nothing to do with.

I'm credited on these entries as having something to do with them:

This skin has full team colors:
https://unrealarchive.org/skins/unreal- ... f5baa.html

So why is it listed as not having them?

Normally team skins are listed as `xxxxt_N`, but it looks like these are `T_xxx_N`, so it didn't pick them up.

I'll fix it by hand.

Because most of those things aren't only credited to you. They are 99% things "SomeDude (original), EvilGrins (edited)". The Authors page currently only lists things attributed to EvilGrins only.

The Red Ranger skin was recommended to me awhile ago, and it turns out it's listed as unknown author.

But there's a Black Ranger & a Blue Ranger skin:
https://unrealarchive.org/skins/unreal- ... 51898.html
https://unrealarchive.org/skins/unreal- ... 9f3cc.html

Both are credited to "Sajon Waku".

As you can see from the attached pic, all 3 skins were credited to him on Skin City.

Think this needs an update:

I thought it was cool to see how the archive has grown in the last 5 years since it started, with the initial scraping I had done to start things off.

Since then, we've added UT3, Unreal 2, and saved a bunch of Rune stuff. The size of the UT2004 archive has doubled.

2019:

Thanks everyone for your contributions, either individual or in the form of file dumps and other archives you've managed to find or scrape together!

It's hard work, but thanks especially to those who report content issues for various things. It's a constant effort to clean things up, as there's only so much we can attempt to scrape automatically, so a lot of manual tweaking of individual records and values are always needed. There's still a lot of "junk" data that we'll probably never really get sorted out since there's so much. Special thanks to Neon_Knight who submitted many mass cleanups, and OjitroC who seems on a constant mission to actually play and review every new submission :).

This year I would really like to focus on knowledge archiving and preservation - I feel like a lot of things which used to be trivial, like creating characters as someone asked about recently, or making and importing deco meshes, or things like importing fonts, or various other things, are now starting to fall out of use and therefore the skills and processes are being lost as well. The Unreal Wiki has a lot of stuff but it's more focussed on UnrealScript with some light UnrealEd content.

I'd like to build up an archive of documentation, particularly "getting started" type stuff, so someone can pick up the tools and start making content, even if the documents don't go into advanced detail. I find it's the getting started steps that are the most daunting.

Contributions for "how to"s would be greatly appreciated; I know a lot of stuff exists on this forum and, but it's usually in the form of a discussion over many pages/posts - if we could distil some of this knowledge down into a few cohesive stand-alone documents on various subjects it will be awesome.

Thanks all, let's keep things going :)

Earlier this week I uploaded 53 maps to UA in 2 big batches and later learned that my mapping tool, which is supposed to tell me every file a map needs to run, occasionally misses stuff.

Most of the maps will run fine, but for those that won't (SpatialFear maps had unlisted extra components, for example) if I send you a list can you remove them from UA so I can get everything they need and set them up for new uploads?

I'd like to get this right so players don't have to track stuff down in order to play them.

It's obviously up to you how you want to package your maps, but for existing or older content, I'd rather those files not be included via re-packs and re-submissions, as the intent is eventually to link the missing files to the Food Fight or Monster Hunt mods themselves, so people can download the whole thing, rather than having a collection of loose files which may conflict with or override files from other downloads. And also I want to additionally provide a means of downloading appropriately compatible files automatically if needed, rather than relying on repacks of existing content which create duplication.

For example:

Original map from 2012: https://unrealarchive.org/maps/unreal-t ... e20b7.html
Duplicate repacked in December 2023: https://unrealarchive.org/maps/unreal-t ... e34c2.html

They contain exactly the same stuff but probably the README or included screenshots changed. As the author changed (even though its the same), entries like this also don't get caught by the "Variations" system so need to be manually flagged.
