Map packs!

Post by Carbon »

Hey everyone.

Well, due to my lame-ness regarding this year’s contest and not coming up with a prize (and long absence, irl stuff), I wanted to do something for the community. So, I put together a few files that might be (hopefully) interesting or useful to some.

First, all of my UT map packs of which I have about 50GB, then the Rushbase archive and the Beyond Unreal Archive, UT Skins archive and an Assault “Trial” map archive plus a couple of random packs.

I’ll be adding to this over the next couple of months (on vacation) so I’ll update this thread.

All are hosted on Dropbox, for which I have a 200GB daily limit, so you might need to be patient if that is met.

Files and sizes are below. If there is anything specific you want, let me know and I’ll try to get it posted here.

Have fun!

Downloaded those 50GB. Now I have to sort good things.
For the rest I think it's a waste of space if you aren't sure about integrity of archives - also I'm not sure if I can get so much space...
Else... some of those "mappacks" have uz2 files - those are NOT UT'99.

Well, they weren't uploaded only for you and as for something being a waste of space, I think again that's not for you to say. The Rushbase archive is as complete as it can be; as I said, it's a complete mirror of the site before first, it became a repository for the new UT and second, before the resulting disappearance, which is what I feel gives it value.

Feel free not to download it. :)

Yes, the map packs are full of all manner of things. My intent when archiving Unreal-related files was not to remove or make any alterations to the existing structures or contents of anything. I don't know enough about these things to make informed decisions, so I just leave things as I get them and let good people like yourself decide what is or is not useful. :highfive:

Thanks for all this :gj:

A couple of things - what program did you use to archive the Rushbase stuff as, try as I might, I can't open the zip file (I've tried to open the 005 and 006 zip files - 7-Zip tells me they are not archives) and do you have any archives of player models/scripted pawns (other than what is in the All UT Skins download)?

I used 7zip to archive these things and that archive has been shared before without issue (the same links). The Archives are in a series, so afaik, they all need to be downloaded and then extracted from the first 001 archive (I'm not sure that they can be individually extracted). Maybe try that and If you (and others) have the same problem I'll re-pack and re-upload them.

I have to say that my files are pretty much a mess. I haven't taken the huge amount of time it requires to go through all of them and a) organize them properly and b) eliminate doubles and c) put everything it it's proper place. There's an argument here that I shouldn't share this stuff until I do, but if I'm being honest, that won't happen. Hard drvies are cheap these days and I prefer just to vacuum it all up and one day - someday - just throw it all out there for people with more time and inclination to sort through.

I have rips of maybe 60 sites (including medor and utfiles) that also could be gone through and I'm sure they hold a ton of stuff that the archives I've uploaded here don't have. For me, it's about time and knowledge: I just don't have the time to set up a site nor the knowledge to do so. If someone wants to do that work, I'd be happy to upload anything and everything...so...yeah. Anyhow...

Chunked files only contain part of the archive so this is normal.
You cannot extract them because individually they are all incomplete, though you may be able to repair a chunk and extract the few complete files in it.

Oh, I see - didn't realise that - I didn't approach it in a logical way and download the first one first, just tried one or two at random to see what was in them - will give that a try, I'm sure it will work.

Thanks for all the models and pawns :tu:

Thanks - must admit I was not aware of that before.

The version of DM-20AC-CorporateOffice in the zip on this topic is different from the one that has been downloaded from some people, I got a mismatch on esnesi [US] server while others didn't.

In that case, please ask whoever has the mismatch to use this mappack version instead.

The problem is, CorporateOffice had already many name changes because the author haven't got the prefix right (each one had also fixes).
And some wise people changed the name of an older version on their server to match the guideline of the contest.

Now are some versions around with different names or same names but with varying states of completion.
CorporateOffice is now a fuster cluck... which could have been avoided.

@esnesi and everyone else, please use only the version from the official Map-Pack viewtopic.php?f=1&t=13694

Well, sorry for the panic everyone lol, I just checked too and the md5 matches, I don't get why I had the mismatch then, never saw a bug like that (if it was a bug).

There's what seems to be a 2015 capture of Rushbase which is of the order of 225GB here https://archive.org/download/warc_ut_ru ... t_20151204
