Howdy!

Hi All!

Stuck at home due the Covid-19 pandemic as I guess a lot of others are too.... :tu:

Did some digging in old storage boxes and through boredom and came across my old Unreal Tournament GOTY CDROM.

I didn't even know I still had it!! You can imagine the smile on my face!

I played a lot online around about 20 years ago, loved the map Morpheus.

I don't have a CD drive on my laptop but just managed to save onto a USB via another PC, hopefully it will work? :gj:

Yeah welcome. Ut might be act a bit finicky without its registry keys, otherwise it should be fine if you just drag & drop.

Welcome! Always nice to see another fellow UT player! Hopefully your copy of UT works.

And yeah, I'm stuck at home too, because of Covid-19.

I still have 2 sets of the original CD, 1 of the extra CD that came with the original set, a CD a friend burned for me with the activation code written on it, the GOTY edition CD, and the installation CD for Unreal Anthology.

Also, I still have a CD-drive on my computer. Really don 't understand why anyone wouldn't.

I'm a total newbie here and this is my first post so Hello everyone! I was sort of expecting no one else to care about playing such an old game.
Partly I was looking for a 3D game I could play with little to no graphics card.

Looking for install instructions is actually how I stumbled across this forum and also oldunreal.com are most people members of both? Are they rivals or friends? I signed up for both thinking it would be a good way to come across people who might have a clue about getting stuff working.

This is going to be interesting getting it working as my current system is a Dell Laptop running Ubuntu 18.04.
Also no CD drive but fortunately I came across my external USB CD drive while I was rooting around in my storage boxes.

There are lots of tutorials out on getting UT running on Linux but two decades later it's going to be interesting trawling through the dead links trying to find out what actually works.

I feel like I'm starting completely from scratch again. I know I have to get my head around patching and so on.
I think the first step is actually to make some ISO files of the two game disks. CDs feel like treasured relics these days!

Is anyone else trying to get UT working on Linux at the moment? I could post a thread with my experience if anyone would be interested...

IF you can buy on Steam, GoG. For example, I can't ever they decided to blacklist the game some 3 years after launch.

I managed to come across two copies of GOYT Edition on CD, can't remember buying a second, must of thought I lost it!

Anyway, all up and running, and pulled out my Razer BoomSlang 2100 mouse from the vaults of time. Yeehaa!

Only issue I have so far is during a network game the screen freezes for about 2 to 3 seconds every so often.

Any ideas for a fix?

Thanks

=MERGED=

I've followed the UT Tweak Guide btw
