Sounds - my strategy
The best thing is exporting a stock sound and figuring format, then applying the same format for ANY new sound for importing it. This won't cause any issue guaranteed.
The unwary may think that all .wav files have the same format but they don't - a sample rate much greater than 22050 Hz can result in undesirable outcomes, like distorted sound/no sound. Personally I don't use sounds with a sample rate of more than 22050 Hz and I think that's the optimum - 11025 Hz can be a little quiet and indistinct.
