I'd say give the duration like a month. And yea we can definetly start it sooner than we do normally.

(actually we should probably do like a poll sometime for next years contest (seeing as we do one yearly lol) on which season would be best for a contest, not always people are free in autumn/winter)

Usually the discussion around it starts much earlier and ...got dragged over months.
Next time the staff decides everything so the contest can start earlier than usual.

Probably ends August, but I might stretch it to September 1st.
