With Windows <expletive that starts with a v> sucking so bad and Windows 7 not looking much better people have been installing Linux at a rate that is alarming to Microsoft. Combine that with the US economy being screwed, Dell and other PC manufacturers offering Linux, WINE being able to run some stuff better than Windows, and the fact that there is a steam client in development for Linux by Valve and you can pretty forget about putting Win-blows on your next rig. Also in that long string of crap I forgot to mention that several schools, businesses, hospitals, and government offices in the US are switching to Linuxes.

Yeah I 've been wanting to switch to Linux myself, I heard it is simply great OS to use especially when combined with Wine. Unfortunately , what stopped me from making such decision was inability to run Ued although game itself runs pretty damn well. Hope this situation changes soon

I have no problems with windows vista or windows xp or windows 2000. All great operating systems that work perfectly fine, once patched just like every other OS out there.

Windows is so user friendly.I mean if I was gonna choose an OS it would be vista or OS X Leopard.
Still OS X is useless to me. Windows ftw! 80% of the world cant be wrong. I also doubt linux is even touching a spec of the market share windows has.. If anyone should be worried its Apple.

Sorry, but this article is biased and it isnt first time when we've seen this kind of writings.
Linux market share is one of the smallest problems (I wouldn't even call it a "problem") MS has to deal with and the comments regarding Windows Vista and 7... sight I won't even start a discussion about that. You should try Windows Mojave.

Biased? *looks over article one more time* OK maybe little bit. One of the many reasons as to why Linuxes market share doesn't seem like a problem for MS is the fact that most distros are FREE. A Steam client for Linux (I'm even seeing rumors of Valve looking for people to port stuff) would help start a shift towards Linux when you combine the fact that the current Windows systems don't look too promising and that PC manufacturers are starting to load Linuxes on their machines (I could go up to my local Walmart and pickup a Linux powered machine). Wait about three years and you'll see A LOT more Linux-powered PCs. Oh and about Windows 7, I thought I'd bring a little negative into your positive world *evil fanboy-style laugh* so here's to ya:

Re: Linux gaming may overtake Windows gaming soon
Linux will never take over as the business sector dictates whats used. Companies are not going to pull their machines off the shelves to put linux boxes in. Companies would go under because everyone and their mother knows how to use windows. Linux is jsut to advanced for most. those pc's u see in walmart are for people who are poor and need a way to just get online and check web/email cheaply and thats it.
Its not cost effective and most people hate making technology switches. The only people interested in linux are us geeks.

Re: Linux gaming may overtake Windows gaming soon
Linux has its part in netbooks and specific enterprise server/workstation environments, but in consumer market Linux wont make a real hit anytime soon. Sure we have some really great distributions such as Ubuntu and its variations, but it is not really enough to bring Linux mainstream yet.Lee_Stricklin wrote: Biased? *looks over article one more time* OK maybe little bit. Don't call me fanboy since I use *nix systems almost daily. I'm just telling what the reality is.

Mabye it will happen but it is very Unlikely, unless more Computer Makers Have Linux as a option for their Computers then it would be a viable option for gaming.
