Face & hands extraction request

Near as I can tell, Skinmaker cannot open existing textures to extract faces from which I need to skin with.

So, if someone with a functioning UnrealEd can go into Soldierskins.utx and extract the faces/hands texture (that'd be the textures with "4" in them) I'd appreciate it.

.pcx format, please.

Or, as I didn't see this in the help anywhere, tell me how to do that with Skinmaker.

With Unreal viewer you can extract the textures. Gildors UE viewer. page up and page down on your keyboard to scroll through package. i think the app saves images as TGA but you can edit and save as PCX in Photoshop.

You need to select "Image >> indexed color" before saving as PCX in Photshop and for transparency you need to check color table somewhere in the same option list as indexed color below in the list, then the last color box needs to be black/white checkerboard colered. But i think you dont need transperency for skins.

Many thanks to @Baardman and it does extract to a format I can use, although I still need to shrink them to 256x256 but that's not a huge issue.

Still need to work out Skinmaker fully, but I'm getting there.

I dont really understand skinmaker myself, i succcesfully made 1 skin once but after that it seems so buggy and weird, i wonder if you really need it, is it possible to make a skinpackage without Skinmaker? It only make the UTX and INT file i think? want to know myself forin the future. Maybe you can use the editor to import and save the textures as UTX package and write the INT yourself but i don't know if that is all you need.

Totally, but I no longer have access to UnrealEd so Skinmaker is what I'm stuck with now.

For years I'd been making skins with UnrealEd, Notepad, Microsoft Paint, & ThumbsPlus. Always worked great, but I can't do that anymore.

Oh, your viewer... for some reason it can't open the .utx file in the attached. Gets a massive error message.
