UT server visibility.

Post by prime »

Hi all,

I'm setting up a server on my LAN to run a local instance of Wildcard's gauntlet.
My environment on the server is SuSE Linux Tumbleweed 64 bit.

I have opened the following ports in the firewall on the server

UDP: 7777-7780, 27900.

I have the server running and can connect to it from my windows 10 PC by manually opening the server's hostname** / IP but the server doesn't show up if I look for LAN servers within the client.

If I disable the filewall on the Linux server then it does show up. this suggests to me that there are additional ports I need to open to get the server to be visible on the lan.

Does anyone know what these may be, as I've tried searching but don't seem to be able to find the information.

Cheers.

Phill.

**I have my own local DNS running so I can connect via machine.mydomain as well as 192.168.x.x :)

Hello there,

It seems if you are able to join with firewall disabled, that ucc.bin might not be allowed in your linux firewall.
Let us know!

LAN servers "search" work as simple send UDP query on broadcast address 255.255.255.255. If your firewall stop such requests, it will not work for you.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Broadcast_address
for broadcast used ports 8777-8786 - it must be allowed in firewall too.

Thanks for the replies, probably easier to do what I have done and add it manually to my favorites on the Client machine.

Cheers.
