Hey guys. Hope everyone is doing great
I spoke with someone online who asked if I had a specific old (1997) magazine article. I just spent the afternoon digging out everything I had and zipping it up for him. I thought I might post it here in case anyone else wanted to relive those days too. These are the scans from the magazine articles that were about Unreal being released. They are all from the area around 1997 and it's neat to read them now with the benefit of hindsight.
Here's the link:
The zipped file is called "Arthur" as that is the recipient's name.
If anyone else wants anything I might have saved please let me know. I have it all backed up on a couple of HDD's but eventually I'll be getting rid of all of it (or dying, whatever comes first lol).
Hope y'all had a great summer!
-Kelly

HEY Nice to read you again!!!JackGriffin wrote: ↑Thu Sep 12, 2024 10:12 pm If anyone else wants anything I might have saved please let me know. I have it all backed up on a couple of HDD's but eventually I'll be getting rid of all of it (or dying, whatever comes first lol).
In the last days I thought about a little project we (mostly you) had created. The destroyable mover.
It was an actor as far as I remember. Back in the days the old UT version didn't like that mover+mover or BSP+mover are touching and I wanted to test it again with the new 469 patch.
Now I can't find the mover neither the actor (maybe because I forgot the name).
The only thing hindering me to contact you was my ADHD brain ...when I did see your post I remembered again.
Do you know by any chance what that name of that destroyable mover thing was?

Re: Old magazine articles
Paper, you are thinking about "destructibles". Here's the thread: viewtopic.php?p=51481#p51481
I appreciate you reminding me of that, it was fun to remember. Wow, that was 2013! Time flies....I know I've said this before paper but working with you was some of the most fun I ever had in the Unreal universe. I can't thank you enough for the time spent together. It is and will always be super special to me. I don't think most everyone else really "got" what we were doing but it always felt like you and I were on the same wavelength and that was plenty enough for me. Food Fight, destructibles, Chaos Mansion...holy shit that was capital F fun! (You guys should have seen the entry we were brainstorming for the tiny map contest. It was VERY outside the box. But I digress)
Anyway I treasure our efforts paper. You're a good dude and it was an amazing time.
