Made yet another new skin, went to put it on some bots to test it... but UT froze up when I tried switching a Female Soldier to the Male Soldier.
Initially thought system was overstressed, so gave it a break before coming back to it... but same problem. Let it sit for up to 5 minutes before I gave up.
I just switched bots to Male Soldier to test another skin the other day (Bee skin) so this seemed weird.
Thought it might be I had too many skins for that model and this new skin had hit some threshold of too many the previous skin hadn't reached. I removed all unnecessary skins, ones I don't use, but problem persists.
Popped into UT, and it's playing fine. Male Soldier model in-game works as always, but I can't switch to it in bot setups.
Checked my original UT install, can switch to Male Soldier there with no difficulty... but as I primarily use the Anthology version that doesn't really help me.
Checked other models, I can switch to them with no problems.
Thoughts?

Re: Issue with Male Soldier model
Not much, everything's running fine and then it stops in mid process.
Course, without task manager I wouldn't be able to unlock it (which is tricky) and the .log doesn't really mention task manager.

Re: Issue with Male Soldier model
Basically, that:
Set a stopwatch, let it run for 5 minutes before I got out using Task Manager.
When I was having the issue with UnrealTournament.exe repeatedly deleting itself I backed up my entire UnrealAnthology UT to a .zip file. If I can't find a fix for this issue relatively soon, I may just delete everything in the /system folder that isn't an .int file and restore the whole thing from the .zip for it.

Re: Issue with Male Soldier model
Does the crash happen with every Female Soldier you try to change?
Can you change the Female Soldier to a model other than the Male Soldier?
If you change the Female Soldier to the Male Soldier manually, by alterting the relevant .ini, does the change show up correctly in the selection window and in-game?

Re: Issue with Male Soldier model
No, I've even gone directly to my own setup for how I look in game and as that's a Male Soldier it won't even open up.
Doesn't crash, it freezes and locks. That's why I have to use Task Manager and a lot of Alt-Tab and keys to get out of it.
I can change it to anything else, currently that bot is now a Dalek.
As with trying to open my own setup, no window will open displaying a Male Soldier.
Given most of my skinning is of the Male Soldier, this presents a lot of problems.

Re: Issue with Male Soldier model
Has anything in your UT setup or Windows setup changed since the last time you were able to 'see' a Male Soldier in the Player/Bot selection windows?
Did the issue with UnrealTournament.exe happen since the last time you were able to view a Male Soldier in the selection windows?
Can't work out what might be causing this issue -
a) not the Soldier model as that works OK in game;
b) nothing directly related to the rendering of the models in the selection windows as everything bar the Male Soldier is OK;
c) did think it might be a skin for the Male Soldier that could not, for some reason, be rendered but this can not be the case if the Player skin you are using has previously rendered OK in the Player selection window but now does not.
You could rename your current System folder (OldSystem for example) and copy into your installation the System folder from the zip of the UnrealAnthology you have and see what happens. If that works OK then move over new .int files and any other stuff you have added.

Nope
I'll give that a shot.OjitroC wrote: ↑Sat Sep 21, 2024 7:31 pmYou could rename your current System folder (OldSystem for example) and copy into your installation the System folder from the zip of the UnrealAnthology you have and see what happens. Re: Issue with Male Soldier model
I have not, only run anti-viral checks.
On the other hand, it worked!
Still not sure why.

Re: Issue with Male Soldier model
My initial thought was as this problem started after I'd put the new .int & .utx into their respective folders, that might be it.
So I deleted both and tried it again.
Sadly, nope.
