Hi.
I have a large area (8192x8192) and placed some monsters (default Unreali.Titan, Unreali.Gasbag and Unreali.Tentacle) in it, but they don't see me unless I come closer to about 1024 from them.
Possible to make them see me from afar (entire area)?

Just trigger them by a Trigger.Event -> Monster.Tag. If you want to trigger a group of monster you can also put a DistanceViewTrigger nearby, expand its collision around that group and trigger that DistanceViewTrigger.
You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

Thanks, this seems to be what I need.
Is the information kept for the monster after player dies, or need to reactivate the triggers?
Does that also work for monsters from CreatureFactory?

It seems, in Monsterhunt, watching (F5) the bots and the pawns it's like they are all blind. It's a wonder they actually kill all the monsters. They go down the path opposite of each other, then the Pawn gets 1 foot away and they both ignore each other, in my opinion. Then, it seems the fights only exist if they are being fired upon or bump into each other.
The distanceview trigger also has a certain distance, I think it is the max a pawn can see, as the deciding factor. However, I made a huge test map, had two small towers and then pawns on the ground way on the other side. The ones on the towers make a big dent in the radius to see you even though they are triggered. The ones on the ground had a very predictable reaction, if I remember, if not close enough you have to shoot them to get them to fire, move closer and it's normal, and I could still run away, as they stand around again.

It will keep triggering no matter who is killed.
I think a creature factory should work, as long as "the pawn" and player and trigger radius is within the place to be triggered, after they spawn should be the same as being placed.

Have a look at above posted map. IMO there is no distance limit (as far as instigator is in line of sight or reachable via path network.)

Yes, but you can tell when they are triggered, but are too far away for them to see because you can get out of thier range. I had to get pretty close to those small towers, short towers, for them to start trying to get me. Oh, this was a huge cube, no bot paths other than a few player starts.
I messed with the pawn's properties to make more a difference, the distance triggers all worked well.
In a regular size and real map there would be no issue.

If you want to massage the behavior of scripted pawns (monsters) it's required reading to understand the section in their code for "SetEnemy". Pretty much all their decision-making centers around that section. When they decide friend or foe, when they bump something, when they get externally triggered, it all runs through that section.Red_Fist wrote: ↑Mon Jun 30, 2025 8:21 pm It seems, in Monsterhunt, watching (F5) the bots and the pawns it's like they are all blind. So long, and thanks for all the fish
