Re: FOOD FIGHT! ...A concept for an insane-healthy weaponmod
Ok so far I'm done with the bases Textures. Each Texture is 1024 pixel².
Red team:
CARROT. Inside... Blue team
TURNIP. Inside... Don't sweat ...I make a texture pack out of it.
but do I have to look out for something special while importing in Ued2 ?

Re: FOOD FIGHT! ...A concept for an insane-healthy weaponmod
they look great !
I dont know much about texturing. but I believe the biggest size you can import is 512*512. I remember that sometimes the game crashed if I wanted to play a map that had 512*512 textures, while other people had no problems. It has something to do with the video setting I believe. maybe someone else can tell us?
btw have you tested the map i sent you to see if it still lags?

Re: FOOD FIGHT! ...A concept for an insane-healthy weaponmod
To use larger textures, you just need to be using one of the newer replacement DirectX or OpenGL video renderers.
http://www.cwdohnal.com/utglr/ OpenGL DX9
http://kentie.net/article/d3d10drv/ DX10
http://kentie.net/article/d3d11drv/ DX11
I use Irfanview to do all my bitmap conversions and pallet reductions and 8-bit optimizations. It will save the PCX files which UEd likes.

I made the texture already in photoshop, why should I save it first in another file format and then open irfanview to change it again in another
...I hit strg+shift+S select BMP or PCX ...done.
I making for much longer textures than you can imagine

Nope ...I made this textures out of 6 carrots and 3 turnips.
Add some water, salt, let cook for 25 minutes add a piece of butter ...enjoy.

Re: FOOD FIGHT! ...A concept for an insane-healthy weaponmod
Good point. I was just recommending it for conversions, not creations, as you had said to "convert the BMP in Ued". I thought it may be more useful to give Ued the images in it's native PCX format. (buggered if I know why game developers always liked Zsoft's paintbrush format!)papercoffee wrote:I made the texture already in photoshop, why should I save it first in another file format and then open irfanview to change it again in another![]()

Obviously if you are actually making them, you can save in the required format at that stage.

I think I may have had too much

Re: FOOD FIGHT! ...A concept for an insane-healthy weaponmod

I did never notice such a slowdown as you try to portray.
When ever I start Photoshop ...yes it takes it time (30 seconds) ...but than I'll work for hours and hours in this program and close it only after work.
You know... it's my job.
And now go and hate Photoshop somewhere else.

PCX is much more restricted than BMP ...and not really preferred by many Texture artists.
I can't explain it I am only a pixel-pusher.
Btw. thank you for liking my texture...

Re: FOOD FIGHT! ...A concept for an insane-healthy weaponmod
I'll stop bashing P.S. now
I guess it's what you're used to. I can't imagine having to wait 30 seconds for a program to open.
I'm such an old-skool Amiga-head, that if my PC even took that long to boot I'd be ripping Windows apart!
I'll make an overdue posting in the "Hello" thread, where I will let you into me head, so you know where my head is at and how I am wired.
I can be a bit "blunt". There is a reason.

Re: FOOD FIGHT! ...A concept for an insane-healthy weaponmod
Here is the UTX for the bases ... Don't forget to align it properly.
Maybe use the Ued1 with the last patch for Unreal ..there is a function for it.
Can't upload it...
I see there is a problem ...the UTX is now 14mb ... Gaaaah Dammit!
Creavion??? what did I wrong?
Well ...then here a picture of the raw re-textured version of the cup-woot map ... this is how it could look like.
