I tested Direct3D 8 and 9 and when I use ShieldBelt he appears like that:
with D3D 7
with D3D 8 and 9
Exist it an option which can modify this aspect?

I am not sure but I think you have to activate "HighDetailActors" in the advanced options (Direct 3D 8 or 9 Render)
