NEXUIZ PROJECT FORKED

Following the aftermath of the hostile takeover by three guys and this IllFonic entitiy, EVERY SINGLE COMMUNITY DEVELOPER HAS DITCHED NEXUIZ AND ALIENTRAP TO START A NEW PROJECT. They have forked the current SVN of the game to work on a project called Xonotic. In addition to all these developers, all the major clans of the game (including the Nexuiz Ninjaz) as well as players and server administrators will be leaving Nexuiz for Xonotic as soon as they release version 1.0. The fact that the drama lit up Slash Dot and Phoronix as well as few gaming sites is definitely going to hurt both AlienTrap and IllFonic in terms of reputation and sales of console Nexuiz on PS3 and XBox 360 and since a lot of the GPL code was put into the console version of Dark Places (the Quake-based engine that powers Nexuiz) we may be looking at lawsuits from many contributors to the Nexuiz project.

At the moment of this typing, almost every player is aware of what is going on and the AlienTrap forums are borderline abandoned.

What de hell ??? ....this makes me angry! The founder sell the work, effort and enhancements of the community?!?!
How is this possible? Will someone sue them for deception?

There original plan was to contact everybody that contributed, but they fucked that up and the shit hit the fan. Now they have to RE CODE ALMOST EVERYTHING FROM SCRATCH AND POSSIBLY GET RID OF THE MAP THEY WERE DEMOING SINCE STRAHLMAN DID NOT RE-LICENSE IT. EVERY SINGLE DEVELOPER including divVerrent has left for Xonotic and every major server and clan will be migrating to it as well. Nexuiz will likely die as soon as Xonotic gets a release. I felt like I got stabbed in the chest when the console version got announced a month ago, even more fucked up is really all they would have needed to do to avoid all this is to just add a suffix to the title of the console version to differentiate it and the community would have just moved on as usual.
