Trash Files on USB Stick undeletable - caused through Linux

Post by Creavion »

Some day in school I decided to delete some files from my usb stick.. under linux (I guess suse or however this is called), but instead of deleting of the files, thee files seemed to be moved into some kind of trash folder. And now I have the problem: I can not delete the files under my windows. And I am speaking of a undeletable filesize of 1,98 GB on a 8 GB stick, although I wonder if those files really need the space, seems strange.
A picture of that...

So.. what should I do now?
BTW: Windows said every time with an error message "File can not be deleted. Sourcfile can not be read" or something like that.

If I am really unlucky I have to format my complete stick with the hope that this trash can be killed then...

Happened to me as well, the stick has got corrupted. This happens when the specified amount of read/writes exceed for a Flash device. Its time to say goodbye to your stick i guess....

However you can run it till the time you think it will run. Random corruption problems would be coming as soon as you remove the stick from power source. It also depends on the time for which the stick is away from the power source. Means more time, more such kind of garbage folders.

Rohit

All because I deleted a single file on my stick while I was running Linux? O_o
Wanna know what file I deleted? ... The UT99.org CMP2 Main zip ....
Jesus christ.. I really prefer Windows...

Edit: Luckily you were wrong as it seems, I copied - with the expection of those undeletable files - all my data on my HDD and formated my 8 GB usb stick. At the end I had again 7,59 Gb, looks good from my view.
