Dont get me wrong Mint is a beauty and easy to handle... But is derivative from ubuntu.
Yep Linux Mint user here as well. Perfect for typical office manager. Now that you have brought up Sidux, I'm going to check that out.

http://sidux.com/index.php here you get the live CD to test it.
Sidux is debian-sid based and the community is hardcore ...if there is no driver for a new hardware they build it.
And you have to activate manually the list to use proprietary software.
Even the Firefox is different and called IceWeasel it based on the FF2 Oooups my fauld ... it doesn't based on the FF2 it is a normal FF (3.5...something) but all trademark symbols/names are replaced with GNU conform symbols and names.

But the main thing is ...Sidux is fast.
Oh and if you don't like gnome or KDE, I use XFce it is a very pure Window-manager but not ugly :ironic:

sidux sounds nice, i used to have Ubuntu installed but decided to move to Debian because Ubuntu was heading somewhere I didn't want to go. Also my horrible isp has a Debian repository so it makes life easier when I'm on a terrible internet plan
