LavaGiant Symmetrical?

Post by iloveut99 »

Hi, do you think it would be hard to edit LavaGiant to be Symmetrical?

I only want the bases like this one:

(with different team colors)

If it is not much work, there is any chance of some nice guy can do it for me, or help me do it?

Thanks.

Yes, I want all symmetrical. Or if there are not the same items in which side of base they must remain at the center of the map (example: big health face).

Looks pretty good! It seemed all symmetrical. Isn't it?

There are still some bugs:

Just thinking on this so I have a question for the mappers: Is it possible to select a set of BSP brushes and "mirror" them? Rotation won't do the job, so is there a way to invert the bushes so they would line up perfectly no matter the spot you selected to halve the map?
So long, and thanks for all the fish

there is:
rightclick -> transform -> mirror about X (or Y or Z)

(((btw i think it is the best when only the basic layout and the main geometry affecting the routs, paths and visibility is symmetrical, otherwise the two section can be distinguished easily)))

I used to chat back and forth quite a bit with Cedric 'Innox' Florentino, the author of CTF-Face or CTF Facing Worlds, back in the early days of UT about mapping techniques and other things too.
There weren't very many experienced mappers back then at the beginning of UT, so I went right to the sources.
This "mirroring" is what he used for CTF-Face for example also, and Innox was the one who told me how he did it.
He made just one (1) side of the map first, just the basic geometry I believe, then mirrored it to make the other side changing textures to make it different looking and then adding decorations, etc.
So, I also used the mirroring in a few maps of my own, such as CTF-LuXor and CTF-Moribund, among others, that I authored years ago.
Works good! :tu:
