My retirement as staff member ...

Post by Creavion »

Ladies (most likely not among us?) and gentleman!

This thread`s only purpose is to inform you that I retired from my responsibilities and activities as member of the site staff/moderator indefinitely or forever (I dont know). This means, I have not been kicked or fired (JESUS it was even hard to tell Shade that I dont want to continue this any further...). A recent incident among the other (former) staff members and me showed once again the differences about "taking your job seriously". This does not mean I or they have done their job wrong or anything. Its more or less a difference in the job involvement/mentality (WTF, strange translation...). As many of you know I am more or less a human of the faster-paced sort, uhm I sometimes act faster as I think (not good! /recommendable). This does not really cover with the other staff-member opinions.

I want to avoid bad blood. So you might think, I retired now because of differences in opinions? No, thats not the case, this was only the straw that broke the camel's back. My retirement as staff member was scheduled for a long time actually. I dont have much time for this job anyway anymore... coming back from home, eating, browsing the forum (as moderator - so checking anything for any possible issues), you can imagine how less time remains. So I had to decide between the activities as staff member and as mapper. Guess what I prefer, of course the later one. Currently I am still learning 3D modelling (so I dont rely on default tools anymore!!!! *caught*), this also takes time. And of course, dont forget a normal human being is not working and mapping or modelling all the time. Even I have other hobbies: listening to music, watching youtube videos and other stuff. You can not imagine how fast the time proceeds. To put it in a nutshell: I remain a member of this forum, I just dont visit it that often anymore. The duties as a moderator are taken from me. I can finally start to ignore certain parts of the forum for which I never cared actually. I dont have to care about strange posts or threads posted in the wrong section. Not my job anymore. I enjoy the freedom of a normal user.

You know it was mostly me who selected the new green members. Personally I dont think I need something like this. Its like you are a kid and get presents at christmas but then you are getting older and you begin to develop different values. You know what I am trying to say? The only thing which I want to accomplish are my future planned mapping projects. After years I finally feel this "omfg - this will be freaking awesome" stuff, last time it was with Kamah. So.. its a long time ago.

Creavion, you did a great job in moderating these forums. I think everybody will understand your reasons. Sometimes one must prioritize so that he can make something badass. And you will.
Now I must only get used to your green name

Not exactly the descriptive words I'd have chosen

Creav, wait till you see how much more you enjoy things with reduced pressure on you. Does this mean you'll be releasing more maps? :loool:

Creav,
Thanks for your work here at UT99.org - keeping the rest of us (mostly me) in line. Hope you're
serious about continuing to map, after Kamah we have high expectations from you :)

Stay strong!

pfft, dont think about a sequel for the UEngine 1 (436), there is not really anything I could do better with that old engine and I dont plan to waste my time for single player anymore.

Thanks for taking care of business here.
Although we never conversed, I appreciate your input and am glad to see that you'll still be involved in things "UT".
Looking forward to your next creative release. :gj:
