Windows 7 prof 64 Bit: DDS + PSD Thumb Nail viewer

Long story short: Since Win 7 is unable to display thumb nails that easily unlike XP, I have still not found anthing decent so far. Ok, I found something a few minutes ago (this), but ... well it did not look somehow trustable, at least not for me this time.
Not even the DDS thumb nail viewer by Nvidia does work anymore.
So, the thing is: Anybody here who could suggest me something which he uses as well maybe, so .. based on experience.

I don't own W7 64bits (yet) and I use Photoshop Portable instead, however I made a search and it seems that the problem is simply Adobe's own fault.
Basically they didn't add 64bits support for that (at least up to CS4), so all I can suggest is that, if you can, to use the CS5 version.

I don't know if there's an effective turnaround for that, but whatever it is it will most likely include a .dll file to be installed in your system, something that is not trustful at all unless someone around here has one that can advice.

64-bit Explorer thumbnails have always been problematic with Adobe products (Photoshop and Adobe Reader are good examples). You either need to find some 3rd party solution or accept current situation.

one word...
Irfanview
http://www.irfanview.com

You can set the size of the thumbs. the colour of the background, quality etc.
It will let you make contact sheets as well, if you want.

I KNOW THAT, there are solutions. I wanted to know, if somebody of you guys are using one yourself.

Irfanview: AFAIK, isn`t that something like Xnview? From what I saw, it does not look like it would support thumbnails.

I don't know any for Photoshop, but for PDF thumbnails I use this solution:

Irfanview definitely does thumbnails.
I use it on Win98, XP, Vista and 7, as it has better thumbnail options than the OS.
It will make thumbnails for all formats it supports (inc. postscript and PDF and other vector formats, if you install GhostScript)
It can also use PhotoShop plugins if you install the 2 support files.

Couldn't be simpler.
Right click on a folder or drive and select "browse with Irfanview" or you can access thumbs via a button in the prog.
You then have access to everything you may need for interacting with the files.

Here's a grab of me using it on the cafe's PC.

Well, I can do the same with Xnview as well.

This is not what I understand of thumbnails.

With thumbnails I specially mean: support for Windows explorer!

obviously I do not trust the advert bot above ...

Ah, I see.
You want an OS shell addon, to make windows own thumbnails better.
Right-clicking on a folder and "browse with Irfanview" is close (and faster), but not quite what you want.
I do have a special CoDecs pack for windows I can find for you (I have the last free version).
*EDIT*
Here is a useful article with info and links

Microsoft related resources

Unfortunately the replacement MS thumbnail viewer for XP is better than the built-in one in Vista and 7 :ironic:

Personally I mostly use my patched version of WinXP, with the look and feel of Win7 and unlocked DirectX 10. Until I have to use "DX11 only" apps I can happily use XP for the things most people need a newer OS for.
Which is why under Vista and 7 I use the shell-integration provided by Irfanview (I use Irfanview anyway so it makes sense).

Wow, thanks a lot for your effort. I do not think I would have found anything of this stuff on my own.
