Hmm, key data: Enough space and some certain items as it seems? Is there a testmap anywhere? A very good example "how to design" for this gametype? I am too lazy to start playing now.

I PMed you the test maps and some information about it.
Here is a little tutorial on how to map for it: http://www.moddb.com/mods/nuclear-races ... lear-races

Basically there are 2 ways of designing it:
- like a plain race, focus on weapon picks ups (like shown in the video)
or/and
- a bit like BunnyTrack, where it is difficult to navigate through the map (difficult turns). An example of this is NR-Lumen.

There should be enough space so if a player lets an SLV explode behind him it shouldn't fill the entire way. Players should be able to try and evade it.
There will be a pickup mutator. If you fly over it, it will give you a weapon/pickup randomly.

I think you should do something that 'can't be done'. Hell we've got some serious talent here and it's a shame that a think-tank type project has never bubbled up from the resident creators. With each person adding something of their expertise you could do a project that would be pretty bad-ass. How about an Escher-type map with players on different planes having specific gravity for themselves, yet all fighting each other with distance weapons? Could be quite disorienting and nothing like that exists. How about an MH map where you don't have any weapons and you must 'train' ever stronger monsters to fight for you (a la Pokemon)? Hell you could even make it an arena with persistent data and newer/stronger monsters each fight. Controlling them would be done via bot orders-type menu (range attack!...range attack!....evade!)

The point is that players are bored and they are leaving. Make another DM map? Yawn. Do a pyramid CTF map, even a damn GOOD one? Play twice, never fire up again. Players demand something they've never seen before and there is plenty enough talent to make it here.
So long, and thanks for all the fish

In all these years and beginning from UT1 I never LIKED CTF! In UT3 I only played CTF maps in Greed mode. The only CTF map I finished was the started one by one of my buddies years ago (in fact I only added extra architecture, fixed lighting and failed with botpathing anyway). Please do not expect me building something I absolute do not like!

Edit:
How about an MH map where you don't have any weapons and you must 'train' ever stronger monsters to fight for you (a la Pokemon)?
Sounds like a lot of scripting work and I would need something in advance to design the level.

Edit 2:
http://www.map-factory.org/unreal-tourn ... kairo-1672
Look at papers map, extremely small in filesize, extremely simple designed and nevertheless it was a success. I thought of something more complex of course.

Does your script fully work for this already (Testmap available and/or what happens if such map would get selected within normal DM)? If so, I could consider something like that as well...
I think the current version now does. Can't say it works "fully" as there are so many possible configurations it will take a while to systematically test them all out.
Seems to be working right on the CTF maps I renamed for testing, and should work on a TDM map with more than 2 sets of playerstarts defined.

I think the TDM_SP gametype now needs a map that has been written to support 3 or 4 teams and team bases, but I don't know where to find one. :what:

Latest version of the UTSPFix is available here: http://ecoop.ucoz.com/load/utspfix/1-1-0-42 if you would like to check it out
to see if it might be worthy of having new TDM maps made for it.

Sadly no. I tested it with your TDM fix thingy. I was actually on Team Red but started in the blue base.

You should totally do a really scenic, good looking NR map. We could use skilled mappers like you.

I could have sworn it was working in my last round of tests, but I probably just got lucky(?) with the randomly selected
spawn points, and didn't test it enough times to confirm.

I will have to do more testing, and find out why. Grabbed your test map....

The answer lies somewhere in epics CTFGame and/or TeamGamePlus code I am sure.
(FindPlayer start works right for CTF games...)

I can think of ways to brute force it via mutator, but that is not the way I want to do this.

Will probably be a couple weeks at least. Taking a short break from non-stop coding to clean and paint
a few rooms here at the house. And I want to test the UTSPFix stuff out on the servers for a while, and see
if any other issues show up.

Looking forward for this. It would be very interesting to let teams start in their bases to attack in groups the other team. I guess something like that is pretty normal in Counterstrike...

Some of the most fun maps I've got in deathmatch, or any gametype really, have underground subways. Specifically ones where the trains actually run.

Some you can actually hop on and ride the trains.

It'd be cool to have a map where there's a detailed subway system in a cityscape, both above and below ground.
